“A Jungle Paradise Staffed By Wonderful People”

We have just spent three nights at Casa Corcovado and could not have enjoyed it more.

The trip begins with an excillerating boat ride from Sierpe down the river and over the bar into the Ocean for another half hour down to the lodge (I would not recommend it if you had back problems). Having disembarked through the waves you are taken up to the main site by tractor. The main site is 200 or 300 ft up with a spectactular view over the ocean. The cabins are spaced well apart in delightful grounds with a mixture of large old trees and newer planting. The staff were uniformly pleasant, helpful and made you feel really welcome.

The excursions to the National Park and waterfall, and to Cano Island were both excellent . They filled up our two days but we needed two more to enjoy the inhouse trails and to have a laze on the beach - we will have to come back again.

Early morning bird walks were a great way to start the day (given we had been woken by Howler monkeys and the parrots nesting outside the door) and the birdlife around and over the site was spectacular. There were even nightjars patrolling the paths at night!

A wonderful boat ride back and we were left wanting to return!

“Would not recommend this place”

The location is great, the guides are fantastic; however, this resort is not worth the money.
We had the same meal three times over four days! Breakfasts are pathetic. Other guests were complaining also, but to no avail. The bartender was rude and arrogant.

“Fantastic stay”

If you would like to have a special experience: this is the place. This hotel is absolutely unbelievable: in the middle of the jungle, it is a little paradise surrounded by howling monkeys, incredibly beautiful flora, and a very friendly staff. Everything is organized to make you enjoy the national park nearby, including giving you boots, backpacks, water bottles. The guides are very knowledgable and friendly, you will see many animals on the jungle walk, you will enjoy the swimming pools, but also swimming near a waterfall or in the sea and at the end of the day, after a hot shower, you will sip your gin& tonic in the sunset bar, looking at sun sinking in the Pacific Ocean. We were extremely lucky to see many dolphins but also several jumping whales: something we will never forget.

“Fantasy World”

Arriving at Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge was like arriving in a fantasy world. It is quite possibly the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and immaculate. The rain forrest setting with ocean views was spectacular.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed we felt as though the entire staff genuinely wanted us to have every need met and every moment of our stay to be enjoyable. Whatever we asked they made sure to take care of us.

Our "honeymoon suite" was cozy and lovely. If an expansive room with air conditioning and television is what you are after then you might look for another property. We loved our accommodations. The decor was stunning, the expansive windows allowed for a nice breeze and views. Two showers...one indoors and one outdoors had hot water which was the first for our stay in Costa Rica and a blessing after having spent two nights at the Sirena Ranger Station. Perhaps our favorite part was the hammock outside where we lounged and watched spider monkeys playing in the nearby trees.

The restaurant was beautiful with excellent meals. Although we actually prefer the traditional Costa Rican casado the gourmet meals were enjoyable. The quality was much higher than we expected given that everything must be boated in.

There are a variety of day excursions available which are well organized. They even provide rubber boots and ponchos if you want to hike any of their trails. The sunset lounge was the gathering spot in the evenings before dinner. Night activities are non-existant so if night life is high on your list be prepared. It was perfect for us. We can go to a bar or show anytime. Having the chance to lounge in a hammock listening to the night sounds of the jungle was a treat for us.

If you want to experience the rain forests of Costa Rica and still have the comforts of a luxury hotel Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge is the way to go.

“Fantastic place”

We stayed here for a 3 night /2 day pckage but added an extra day whih was activity free. We had an amazing time from the minute we boarded the boat the the reception to take the hour nd forty minute ride to the lodge. Getting off the boat is a wet landing so take flip flops !
The accomodation is in little cottages set in fantastic grounds and is very comfortable - although there is no air conditionaing in the rooms. There is a ceiling fan though which worked quite well. The restaurant served delicious food - although the menu displayed was always for the day before's meal choices ! Everyone ate at 7.00 pm. The sunset bar was a wonderful start to the evening, with margaritas from 5 - 6 pm watching the sun go down ! Beware of Edward's cocktails - they are lethal ! As there are only 12 cottages, everyone met up at the bar for drinks and snacks and to ooh and aah at the sunset every evening. Bearing in mind that bsolutely everything has to be transported in by boat, prices for wine, drinks etc was cheaper than many of the hotels we stayed at further in land. We saw some amazing wild life including a tapir, during the trek to the waterfall, and leather backed turtles when we went on the boat trip out to the island. Just one word of warning, there is no telephone, internet facility or in our case no mobile phone signal, so if you have anyone you need to keep in touch with back at home, let them know that you will be out of contact for the duration of the stay. Would I go back - like a shot, I can't wait to go again !
