“sleeping with the monkeys!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2011

What a great adventure from the start. We drove to the Osa and the pot holes had to be seen to be believed. Although they are in the process of improving the roads.
We stayed in Casa Sunrisa- a house on stilts made of bamboo. Open air apart from the mossie net over the bed which makes it a little hotter but there are fans. Amazingly I did not see one mosquito although I did get a few bites.
To live in the middle of the jungle with all the wildlife surrounding you is quite an experience. The sounds at night are louder than the day time but they lull you to sleep. The howler monkey wake at 3 and 5 am regularly- sounding like they are inside the house but you soon learn to go to bed early and rise early to enjoy the mornings.
The beach is a 5 min walk with the kids. Don't expect a caribbean beach as it is rough and stoney. The water was as warm as a bath. We did experience jelly fish stings on 2 days out of 10 but they last just 20 minutes only.

Room Tip: free boogie boards , kayaks and beach chairs

“Best vacation EVER!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2011

Absolutely amazing vacation for the entire family! We were fortunate to find Casa Bambu (stayed in Casa Linda). Totally off the grid (solar power & artesian well water) and we loved it! It is hard to be back home without the howler monkeys waking us up at 4am, or the macaws eating the nuts from the trees overhead and dropping the husks on the metal roof, or the waves lapping in our ears all day. Thank you Lyn and Kirk for having and sharing this beautiful piece of heaven. Also a huge thank you to William, who made our stay very pleasant by taking us on hikes, showing us treasures of nature, taking the kids fishing, and finding my daughter 2 delicious coconuts (she was so delighted!). We also benefited from Vicki's fabulous dinners! Who could ask for a better vacation? We will certainly return to Casa Bambu. May they never succeed in paving the road from PJ!

“For a wonderful beach experience, stay at the Casa Bambu resort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

We stayed in the Casa Linda beach house with our family, and it was wonderful. I liked that we were just a few steps away from the beach. The rainforest with its monkeys, macaws, and butterflies was so amazing. The owner and staff at Casa Bambu were very friendly and helpful. Be sure to have the girls cook for you because the meal we had was delicious. I can't say enough about the wonderful Matapalo area of the Osa Peninsula.

“A fantasy trip full of fun, monkeys, sunshine, waves and lots of laughter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

A group of us (ten in total) ranging in ages from 8yrs old to 60+ yrs old stayed at La Pina and La Sonrisa for a week and had an amazing time. Dinner cooked by Vicki was a treat! Lyn and William were so helpful in setting up tours for us and arranging for taxis. Everything was PERFECT!! I wish I was still there!! (we are back in freezing VT - loved the hot humid days in the Osa!). Thank you Lyn, Kurk, William and Vicki. Best trip every!!!!
