We had to switch hotels because the one we were at first was booked the rest of the week so we walked down a little ways to this one and it was a great deal so we decided to stay the rest of the week here.
We were in the cabana's not the hotel and there seemed to be a pretty distinct separation in how the staff was at one from the other. The staff at the cabanas were great. Very helpful and let us use the phone to call another hotel and helped out with any questions we had, the staff at the hotel part wanted to charge for everything and they weren't too personable. Very different then the rest of the Costa Rican's we met during the week. They charged for the computer (even if it was just a minute) , the phone for local hotel calls, for an extra towel if you needed one for your hair, charge for a beach towel if you needed one. The room was clean but the shower never got any hot water and the doors wouldn't close right. Also the water didn't drain well and there was a pool by your feet.
The location is great. Just a path to the beach and there is a great backpackers hotel next door with the coldest and cheapest beer in town. The pool is nice, could be a bit cooler, but overall a decent hotel. It could be a great hotel with the right owner but until then, just decent. They did have an excellent breakfast though with just about everything you would want whether it be traditional Costa Rican or American.
