I went to this hotel 4 years ago and loved it. Love the area. Brought my husband along this time to enjoy it again with me.

Not the same- owner still very friendly and accommodating. The property is for sale and seems to have been neglected significantly since the last time I visited. The breakfast used to be outstanding- customized by your appetite by their very own French chef- now simply mediocre. The lack of air conditioning is hard to sleep with.

It's too bad- location is wonderful and everything is close by. The park is a short bus ride away for ~40 cents. And the owner is so nice!

This hotel is for sale and the owner told us that she wants to go back to Germany. We booked the hotel by a Costa Rica agency and booked a double room with breakfast.
In the hotel the restaurant was closed and there was no breakfast at all( which should be included ) The room was very small ( in fact one personroom )and by paying another 60 us$ we got a bigger room. We booked for two nights but because the many ants ( walking across the beds), insects and a frog inside the room we left. We didn't sleep at all. We didn't get any money back. The rooms are not very clean, basic with old furniture.

We stayed here for 3 nights. For us it was fine, but I could see how some folks would not like it. They have built some new rooms...which I think are 2 BR units based on some of the other reviews. These units looked to be pretty nice from the outside. There is also an older hotel, which is more run down and basic. The rooms in the "old hotel" are fine if you're just looking for a basic place to sleep at night. They have not been well maintained, but they cleaned our room every morning. I never felt like our room was dirty. Alex, the guy at the front desk was helpful and friendly. There is a restaurant right in front of the hotel that has live music. We were there on New Year's and they had a nice little party. I was worried people would party all night...but shortly after midnight, things really quieted down quickly.

You should know this hotel is closer to Quepos than Manuel Antonio, but the bus stops right in front of the hotel and it's about a 10 minute ride to the park. The hotel has a nice pool which is outside the newer units...however all guests can use the pool.

My wife an I had an excellent time at Manuel Antonio!
Body Surfing is good.
With my binoculars I was able to identify 15 different species of birds right from my pool side chair in about 30 minutes.
The squirrel Monkeys were every where in the trees of the hotel.
Rooms were clean and service was good.
The jazz band at the Bambo Jam as well as the food were the best in the area.
Alex the hotel receptionist was a great host and helped us set up our local tours. He knew alot of information of the area and Costa Rica.
I will probably go back with the kids for there summer vacation.
The hotel and the area is a must !
