“727 Awesome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Traveled April 2011 for a family wedding. Stayed in the 727 with husband and three teens. The pictures provided on the resorts web site are exactly what this 2 bedroom, two bath, two balcony airplane is like. It was pricey but definitely worth the splurge in the unique and cool factor. Restaurants were very good and served very Americanized food. Adult pool not very big but great view. Pool for families was very tropical meaning jungle setting including lizards about two feet long. Two days, we were all awakened by monkeys on the roof. In fact, they knocked off some roof tiles from the balcony. Saw many monkeys by the restaurant and reception. Saw a sloth and two howlers. The entire resort has a very rustic, camp like feel. It is a very steep up and down walk to each different area. My 85 year old mother found it really difficult. She was in Area B. Luckily, the resort gave her a ride whenever she called for one. It was very hot and very humid so be prepared to sweat. One piece of advice, stop and buy drinks and/or snacks beforehand because family pool has no concessions and at the adult pool, the bar closes early. Or at least earlier than my family was prepared for.

“Week of fun”

The pictures on the website do not do this place justice. It is even more beautiful in person. The property is best described as rustic, it was clean and in an excellent location. It is close to the beach and restaurants. Breakfast is not included however the Anaconda restaurant on the property had a good breakfast and there are many other excellent restaurants in the area. Area B had a great view and we didn't need the air conditioning for the nights. There is a great breeze that comes in and it does get cool at night. We switched to Costa Verde II after 3 nights. It had an even better view and is close to the beautiful adults pool.

We had our wedding at this property and it was amazing. Isabel and the staff were fantastic I could not thank them enough for making our wedding fantastic. We had the ceremony poolside and the reception at the event center. It was a fantastic day.

I have been to Manuel Antonio before and this hotel is in a great location and is a great value for the price.

“Good choice in this area”

We just came back from Costa Verde. We stayed in area B near El Anaconda Restaurant. The food was great and so was the service. The white faced monkeys will visit the restaurant in the morning so take a camera! The view from the adult pool at Costa Verde II is the best! This pool has a bar and food will be delivered. Kids are welcome at the other pools. The room was cleaned daily and I recommend staying here.
If you are mobility challenged; be advised that this area has a lot of steep hills. There are no elevators in any of the restaurants we saw. There are plenty of attactractions in the area and plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. Cabs are plentiful and the public bus is safe, reliable and cheep.
I did see complaints on trip advisor before going regarding insects. We had a couple of bugs in our room from time to time but this is in a tropical rain forest. I rate this place at a minimum of 3 stars and would go back.

“Everything Was Perfect No Complaints Here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Since the night i arrived the staff was always friendly and quick to recommend restaurants and activities in the area. The room was as described and perfect for the Costa Rica setting. Although they could do some updates i diden't mind at all. The property is very clean and well kept. This hotel is a 10 min walk down to the beach and about a half hour back up (The hill is very difficult if you have been drinking all day at the beach).

Room Tip: Ask for the ocean view, nothing better than waking up to that in the morning

“Nice rustic property with great views”

1st time in costa rica travelling 2 families incl 2 kids+4 adults and this was our first stop after San Jose. Stayed from dec 26-30. We stayed in Section D rooms 3 and 4. This building is down the hill from reception so it's extra secluded but it is just across the busy beach road from one of the pools which was nice. Everything is crazy hilly at this property and in Man An. in general. We saw lots of wildlife from spider monkeys, iguana's, gecko's, to a huge variety of birds including toucan's in the trees right off the balcony. Amazing views of the hillside and beach which is really the best feature.

Both good sized rooms had 2 double beds, a good size fridge/freezer, a hotplate, coffee maker and variety of plates/cutlery/glassware so we stocked up with basics for breakfasts and snacks. One of the rooms experienced no hot water one night and the power went out for about an hour one day but other than that everything worked fine. This is not a luxury resort but if you want a decent place to stay (it's got a cottage feel) you'll be fine. The bedding suited us - I didn't come to CR wanting a 5* resort or AI experience. I'm not sure about rooms in the main buildings which looked considerably smaller and likely noisier but as others have said you have the advantage of being closer to some amenities.

We ate at the Anaconda for dinner one night which was good, but the kids enjoyed El Wagon and La Cantina up the hill a bit better as there were more kid-friendly items on the menu (few restaurants in CR have kids menu's we found).

We had no problems with rude or inattentive staff. The cleaning staff had to make a special trip with a motorbike or pickup truck to our building and a few times they came too early for us!

You could walk the 15-20 min. to the beach if you are fit - the walk back up the hill is fairly strenuous though and it's a busy road with virtually no shoulders in some spots so if you have young children watch them! Better to drive, take a taxi or the bus (we had a driver/guide our whole time in CR which was great).

We would stay here again, although Man Antonio was pretty hectic around Christmas and everything was a little too busy for our liking here compared to other parts of CR we visited.

Room Tip: Pick buildings D or E if you want great views of the beach and more privacy. Make sure you are on t...
