“Great outdoor cafe by the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011 via mobile

We had a nice couple beers and sandwiches at this nice little outdoor cafe. It's by the beach and well-covered from the sun. The food was really good and well-priced. The service was great too and they speak English so I'd recommend it to anyone who's just gotten to Costa Rica and is not so good with Spanish. Great lunch spot very close to the beach.

“disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

We went to Artemis Cafe one night as organized by our surf camp. Our organizers were really talking up the place so expectations were high. The service was poor, the food was awful (greasy, fried fish that was over battered) and our group unanimously agreed. We chose not to revisit Artemis on another night when we had other options available. Perhaps it was an off night or our surf camp had some kind of deal with the place which was their reason for 'selling' it.

“best breakfast in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

without a doubt the best ice coffee and breakfast in malpais....cafe is located in the perfect spot by the beach, all of the food is delicious, the service is great and everyone there is super friendly...there is an all around relaxing but fun vibe here which is why it is one of my favorite spots in town....an absolute must!

“chill vibe and familiar faces”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2011

I started coming in the day time for the best internet connection in town paired with a good cafe con leche, and quickly became accustomed to seeing a rotation of friendly faces come through in the afternoon hours. The vibes are easy, the staff is funny (or think they are! just smile and nod), and at night they throw my favorite parties in the whole Mal Pais/Santa Teresa/Playa Carmen stretch. I try out other places and enjoy myself but when I go to an Artemis party I Know it's going to be a good night. Get some friends to put in on a pitcher of sangria, it's a good deal.

Artemis was named after the Greek goddess of the hunt, by the way, as well as being the goddess of the moon, so you know they like their strong women!

The menu is varied and you'll find a lot of choices. My picks are the smoked tuna & salmon platter, the Artemis wrap w/ haloumi, any of the paninis or toasties, and I love grubbing on the cheese steak sandwich. Start with those first
