So everyone knows, I am 31 years old, and travelled solo to Costa Rica to learn how to surf and enjoy some natural adventures. My surf retreat was between Jan 14th-20th and the weather/waves were perfect! The staff at Del Mar are extremely organized. I forgot to change my watch to the local Costa Rican time on the first day and missed my first lesson. Despite this, Maria the owner of the surf camp co-ordinated a date and time to replace that lesson. The instructor I had was Paco, and he was fantastic. Had me riding almost every wave on the first lesson with the long board! Try to get a room at the Del Mar Inn, which is where everyone in the surf camp stays. When they are at capacity, you get a room in a hotel about 10 minutes away, where you don't board with like-minded surfers. These are mostly families, and people who are not there to surf. I would highly recomend Del Mar Surf Camp for beginers, as they had me learning fast, and having a GREAT time surfing in the sun! Thanks Del Mar :)
