We had two wonderful days watching the wildlife as we sailed down the canals it was so relaxing. The boatman and our guide were absolutely brilliant at spotting the wildlife we would have missed so much if we had attempted to do this trip on our own. The grounds of the lodge are lovely and kept tidy but are still part of the natural rain forest. The swimming pool was spotless and plenty big enough for a relaxing swim at the end of the day. The food was quite plain but well cooked and there was plenty of it. The whole time we were in Costa Rica no one seemed to get an upset stomach. The staff were very helpful and always smiling. The rooms which are in cabins, fitted well into the environment and didn't look out of place but were fairly basic. Don't expect much from the town across from the Lodge there is very little to see there. I would recommend this place as an ideal base to visit the canals in this area, just be prepared to be woken at an early hour by the Howler Monkeys. It does encourage you to get out early to see the wildlife as dawn breaks.
