We stayed in the blue house recently. What a great experience. We were only a two-minute walk to the beach down a little path, and everyday we saw monkeys, sloths, and beautiful birds around our cabin. The cabins are equipped with a fridge, range, toaster oven, and coffee maker. They are clean and well-decorated. We were definitely allowed to talk and laugh, and did a lot of both, but, yeah, it is not a place to go if you are looking to get rowdy or be involved in some kind of "scene." You are better off picking a place in the town of Puerto Viejo. Most days we found ourselves picking up food and beer/wine at a little supermarket nearby, and hanging out on the beach or going on a trip (we took the bus to the Sloth Sanctuary north of Cahuita - totally worth it). We rented bikes and went into Puerto Viejo a few times and down to Manzanillo. The kitchen is no longer open at the time of our trip, but they are looking for someone to take it over. Also, Ingrid is very helpful. We had a mix-up with our flight, and she was very gracious when I woke her up at 6am to get the number for a taxi company! Thank you, Ingrid!! In sum, it was a great experience and I would go back to Aguas Claras any time.
