Stayed here at the start of a long trip for four nights and sill regretting not staying longer. We were immediately felt to relax and given great advice on the best things to do in puerto viejo.

Rooms are really clean, comfortable an quiet. Use of natural wood and local artists give the place a local feel and make you feel like you're Part of the town immediately.

Bar downstairs is run by great people anemia a great place to chill out. Free wifi by the bar and in the hammocks upstairs (yes hammocks) , are an additional plus.

Couldn't recommend more highly.

“Kaya's Place made the trip to Puerto Viejo even better!”

I'm so glad I chose this hostel - it practically made the trip. Right next to a great beach, close to town, the staff are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful, and it features a bar and great, cheap food. Don't miss this place!

“Amazing !”

An amazing place ! The hotel has always been a great place to hang - so relaxing and suck a great location. With Finn running the restaurant now it's over the top. The man is such a amazing cook. Specializing in Cajun cooking its truly an experience. I have eaten at most places in town (many excellent ones) but Finn and the boys are doing something special there. The rockin roll Sunday brunch is not to be missed. With Jake holding fort behind the bar only fun can be had - not to mention new and fun drinks. Highly recommend Kaya's place to any traveler for the atmosphere and the food.

“I would have liked to stay much longer”

This is a very nice place to go take some time off on the beach. In a (forgotten?) tucked away corner of Costa Rica. The hotel is nice and the people running it know very well how to take care of you. Splendid place.

“Comfy and close to the beach!”

Stayed here for two nights with a GAP trip in Costa Rica.

Was happy with the hotel, its very close to the beach and about a 5 minute walk into town.

We stayed in a room with a bunk bed ( queen sized beds) and fans attached to the wall for both the bottom and the top bunk ( thank god!) The room was clean with a small bathroom (they only have a sheet that covers the entrance of the bathroom, heads up if that bothers you!)

We stayed on the 2nd floor where there were some comfy couches and hammocks to hang out in.

The owners were friendly, a lot of them were from the U.S/Canada. Mike tried to get involved in our group a lot. He recommended a lot of places for us to eat and party. They made us a BBQ one night. Had a pretty decent breakfast the first morning... all in all some good times.

They have a bar outside the front of the hotel with cheap beer. And heads up if you're not an animal lover, they have a few cats and HUGE (friendly) dogs walking around the place. (There was even a sloth hanging outside the bar one night!)

Have fun in Puerto Viejo!
