I was very pleased when I saw my room here. I did not book it, so I had laid my trust in someone else. Ive stayed at many of the motel/hostels in town, and the villas was a treat. Our place had two levels, kitchen, living room downstairs, bedrooms, bath upstairs. The beach was practically out the front door. It was sucluded and far enough from the party noise in town. Luckily we had a rental car, because it was a bit of a walk. The beds were comfortable and actually had "real" matresses and we did have hot shower, ooooohhhh!!! This is a beautiful place to stay, although, if your used to big resorts with all the amenities of home, you probably wont like it. Which is too bad for you. It is central america, as well, there will be insects no matter how "fancy" of a place you stay in! Dont let a cockroache in the shower ruin your whole outlook of the place!

We did not like it at all. The villa that we rent was very dirty and unconfortable. We were almost the only guest in the place. We left after one night. We would never go back there again and I do not recommend this place at all.

Stayed here twice. Great location, with ocean views (not that many places in this area have ocean views). Spacious accomodatons with kitchens and outdoor area to sit looking at ocean. Rooms were dated back in 2007 so its nice to hear they are being rennovated. I liked it here. Nice to hear the ocean at night. Bat was flying around in my room and I am a bit afraid of those little guys, so that was not too much fun but other than that it was a great stay and I have stayed.

As a group of 4 women, mid-20's, non-spanish speaking... we had a AMAZING stay at Villas Del Caribe. After many internet searches, we opted for this one. The website does not do the property justice. We stayed in a double unit, room #1 ( request that one-- easy access to front desk, restaurant, and walkway to beach.) The staff was extremely helpful, the villa was very clean, and the view was great. We also felt very safe.
While the property is not situated directly on the beach, the lanscaping between the ocean and the room makes for a fabulous view. Our room was two -level, 2 BR, 2 BA at about $450 for the week.... we would expect to pay close to $1000 for the same room-type for a week in the states.

For adventure, I highly reccomend Outdoor Adventure whitewater rafting tour. ( They wil aslo transfer you back to San Jose, if needed, so you may want to schedule a tour on your check-out day, and use the transfer to your advantage.) For dining, Standford's Restaurant in Puerto Viejo is great. Perto Viejo is not far by bike or foot. Try Pure Jungel Day Spa, for an amazing jungle massage while you are there.
