“Over priced but OK place to stay (if you have to)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

The Park Hotel is probably the only place to stay in central Puerto Limon. It is right next to the sea but also in the centre of town. The restaurant has good sea views. You can walk to whatever you wish to see within three blocks (its a small place)

The hotel is fairly basic, more of a motel than a hotel. It is spotlessly clean. Bed linen was good quality and the beds are comfortable. The AC works. The staff are helpful and friendly. The restaurant serves straightforward meals, nothing fancy!

Our room was quite small and dark. It faced the road which meant that we were entertained by the soundtrack from the gym across the road (7 am - 9 pm). The bathroom was clean but small and dark. Cable TV had poor reception.

There are better, more expensive rooms, facing the sea but they may not warrant the extra cost. I would either stay outside the town or head for a final destination rather than stay in Puerto Limon for preference.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the sea have full length windows and balconies.

“Good for the Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

We chose this hotel because it is in the center of Port Limon and walkable to shops, park, and several churches. We had requested in advance and were told that we would have rooms with a view of the ocean. When we arrived we had the worse set of rooms for the hotel: 2nd floor overlooking the gym across the street. The noise level was non-stop. that gym plays subwoofer loaded music from early am to 9pm. When the gym stops the bar on the corner takes over. Did I mention all the road noise, motorcycles, trucks, screeching cars. I was here a week and got the full effect of the noise. In addition, the bright street lights shine into the room at night making darkness for sleeping impossible even with curtains drawn. The water doesn't drain from the bottom of the shower BUT there is an option of a warm shower. There is a great remote control AC in the room. There is not a desk or chair in the room. The mattress is hard, there is a safe in the closet, etc.
The good of this hotel is the staff very helpful patient with my spanglish. The food in the hotel is good especially the red snapper and the fruit plates. It is expensive but very fresh. Do not order the asparagus salad it is made with canned asparagus and awful. The stay comes with a free breakfast of eggs, white toast, rice and beans a glass of canned juice and tea or coffee. There is free internet but you must get the code daily from the front desk.
On yes, this hotel is very clean and they work really hard to keep the mold out of the bathroom. I would stay here again but demand room on the quieter side of the hotel.

“Beware of the maids”

Nice hotel.
Breakfast was always good.
Stayed with a group. The maids went through a few peoples bag and stole $300 from the luggage. Thankfully the hotel "recovered" $150

Good Day Sir.
We the Hotel would like to thank you for staying in our hotel and for writing a review of the hotel service. As for your unfortunate situation, the hotel has its own policy about valuable objects; each room of the hotel has its own safe, so each guest can use the safe to put your own valuable objects in the safe. Hope that when you come again, please put any valuable object of your own in the safe.
Thank you very much, and have a nice day.

“As Good As It Gets In Pt. Limon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2011

This is really the only place in town worth staying. The rooms that face the ocean are the best. Nice balconies with chairs that you can sit on and watch the waves crash on the rocky shore across the street. The check is staff was OK although more interested in chatting with her friend than in checking me in. There is a parking lot across from the hotel where your car will be safe during your stay. Don't leave anything of value in it anyways just to be safe. Pretty basic rooms with dated furniture and linens. All said, it was clean and safe, the TV worked and I wasn't there for a long time.
The restaurant served good food and both dinner and breakfast. Nice windows that face the sea and provide a view of the ocean while dining. Nothing fancy but better than starring at the wall.
Location is close to a grocery store and shopping and fairly safe to walk around. I would avoid the park area immediately across the street at night. Lots of desperate people hanging out on the benches and it could get dangerous.
If you find yourself in Limon and need a place for a quick overnight stay, this is your place.

Room Tip: Get an ocean view room.

“Probably your best bet in Limon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2008

Spent 3 nights in an Oceanview room at the Park Hotel in Limon. I saw maybe 1 other hotel option while there, but I wouldn't have wanted to stay there. This hotel is very basic, but it's a clean & air conditioned place to sleep in a very hot/humid climate (hard to find in Limon :) We were visiting family, but I can't do without a/c & we were traveling with a baby so I wanted to be as comfortable as possible. Front desk staff was just ok, not too friendly. Cleaning staff was great though, even called one day to see how we were doing. The ac unit is extremely loud, but I got over it really quick because it was too hot not to have it on. View from the balcony was nice.
We enjoyed a decent typico breakfast each morning in the hotel restaurant. And it was cheap compared to most hotel restaurants. At night on weekends though they sometimes have entertainment in the restaurant which can be loud. We could hear it from our room bathroom (& we were on the 3rd floor). It seems to be a popular restaurant for locals. When the restaurant is busy though you can smell food cooking (not always a good thing when it's a mixture of cuisines).
I was really disappointed to find that they don't provide washcloths. I thought maybe housekeeping had just forgotten to leave some in the room, but when I checked w/the front desk they said they don't have washcloths. I've never heard of such a thing! They provide toothbrushes, qtips & shampoo...but no washcloths?? We parked in the lot across the street each night. After the 2nd night we noticed damages to our rental car, but had no way of proving it occurred there so didn't bother to say anything.
I would stay here again just because the room was clean & had ac. Being able to grab a bite downstairs was also convenient.

  • Liked — Air conditioning, restaurant in hotel
  • Disliked — No elevator, inconvenient when loading/unloading luggage
