We stayed at this hotel while on a trip to Puerto Viejo. We had to stop due to the terrible weather and were directed there by a friendly cab driver. The hotel actually looks quite nice from the outside with some very pretty palm roofs and white round buildings. The restaurant has a nice view to the ocean and the breakfast we were served was passable.
I would not however return there nor would I recommend this hotel unless it was the only one available. The rooms were musty and smelled of mold. The bathroom sink was cracked as was the commode. The closet was dank and smelled. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and I awoke with a sore back. During our stay the restaurants were occupied by wedding parties and were full, so we could not get a meal there. There was a loud party until well into the night. The staff were overwhelmed and not very helpful.
The front desk lady was not very welcoming and frankly didn't give a damn whether we checked in or left. She obviously didn't like her job and treated us like we were a big bother. The hotel is very poorly maintained and not comfortable. We got up early, ate breakfast and could not get out of there soon enough. We heaved a huge sigh of relief once we were on the road! What a joy to be out of such a terrible place!
