I wonder if this is the same hotel that received the poor ratings below? Perhaps not, since this hotel was quite nice indeed, especially compared to the Hotel Wilson I stayed at the night before in downtown Guapiles. It had a private bath with hot shower, air conditioning and ceiling fan, cable tv, and it was a large, clean room with a comfortable double bed. There was a very large swimming pool and also a large pond with ducks and geese swimming around. There was even a computer room with free Internet on 7-8 computers. All of this for a mere $30 for a single. Since it was outside of town, it was very quiet, but it was only a $3-5 taxi ride to town or the bus station. It was also very secure, and there was a Burger King out front. Across the highway and beyond the line of businesses was forest. I birded there all morning and saw lots of species, including a Great Antshrike, a trip highlight.
