STAFF:A mother, a son and one maid. The son greeted us and was stoned out of his mind. Spoke very little English and was incredibly rude. Both were just awful.
FOOD:None there and NO restaurants in sight...closest one is 30 minutes away.
LOCATION:Middle of nowhere. It is right on the beach but unless you plan on locking yourself within a thousand foot radius with no food and a pool filled with green water and palm leaves...go somewhere else.
CLEANLINESS: WORSE than a hostel in the pits of New York City.
OVERALL: We were the only people there, our room was no larger than a broom closet crammed with two queen size beds and a BATH TUB. NO JACUZZI as promised. While waiting to get our money back, my friend and I explored and noticed all the other guest rooms were filled with empty beer bottles, mirrors and garbage. DO NOT STAY HERE.

If you decide that Cahuita is where you want to stay (see below), this hotel is an excellent choice. The setting is beautiful and peaceful with a large lagoon-shaped pool next to the natural vegetation by the beach. Our room was spacious and air-conditioned with a large bathroom with plenty of hot water and a porch which overlooked the sea. This is the only nicer hotel in Cahuita which is directly on the beach. The similar Magellan Inn and Suizo Loco are up the road about 300 and 500 feet from the beach respectively but beach access from them is more difficult since most beach property is fenced-in and you must find a break to get through. Breakfast was well-prepared, adequate but not copious. My problem was not with the hotel itself but with the Cahuita area. The town is run-down and sleazy with not much there. We did find two good restaurants, the Swedish Bakery for lunch and the Coral Reef for dinner. (Do not go to Miss Edith's regardless of what the guidebooks say!) The one good thing about Cahuita is the National Park with its long, beach-side trail, wildlife, and calm waters for swimming. Note that the Carribean side of Costa Rica is much less developed than the Pacific coast and appeals more to Europeans than to Americans who want more luxurious accomodations and upscale restaurants. The Puerto Viejo area, about 10 miles south of Cahuita, provides more civilization and much better restaurants. However, if you really want to get away from it all in a natural setting, Cahuita may be perfect for you.

Nice rooms with hot water. Great pool and just steps from the sea. Awesome breakfast. Hope to visit again soon!!

Combine your time at the beautiful unspoiled beach, where you think you are the king in your own paradise kingdom with refreshing dips in their beautiful swiming pool and enjoy watching some of the unique little frogs and lizards that you have only seen in magazines or movies.
Your hosts and friends Jackline, Marcelo and Ralph , will make you feel at home and so will the gracious staff.
If you bring a bottle of rhum or whiskey , once it is opened, make sure you do not put it back into your car, because if by any change the cork gets loose , the liquid will dissapear due to the tropical heat ! Better to enjoy those drinks at once by the pool at the Rancho or in the quiet and fresh porch of your room. You will forget about your worries when at La Diosa.
