“Good enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2011

This is probably not the best hotel in Cahuita, but it wasn't that bad. The rooms are big enough if you only stay for a few days. The bathrooms are open in the top so it will be noisy if there are people next door.
The hotel is a little bit far from the centre (there are some nice little shops) and NP, but the beach is really nearby. The swimming pool is ok, so is the bar. The restaurant isn't really good, very basic. Some staff (like the waitress) don't speek english.

“A great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2010

What variable reviews this place gets! We were warned by our tour operator that this would be the most basic of the hotels we would be staying in. But nearly all of us thought it was the best. The buildings are simply constructed but the rooms are comfortable and mine was one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have slept in. No A/C but effective ceiling fans. Showers have the heating element in the head so water is always hot (but no hot water in the hand basin). The grounds are wonderful, I saw as much wildlife there as in any of the national parks. Be prepared to be woken up by howler monkeys at 6.30am. Breakfast was boring but plentiful supply of finger bananas are freely available all day. As is coffee, but that got a bit stewed towards the afternoon. Best food was the night they did a BBQ. The pool looks good but didn't have time to sample it, there's also an outdoor gym (see photo). If you prefer character to corporate you should like this hotel.

“Pleasant stay”

A nice little hotel; room was clean, bed was comfortable, water was hot. It would probably be noisy if a tour group was here, but that didn't happen during my stay. Didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. Terrific wildlife right in the garden: resident sloth, poison dart frogs, gaudy leaf tree frogs (those cute green ones with the red eyes), hummingbirds, lots of others. No internet, but just walk up the road to Brigitta's. the restaurant isn't great...free breakfast consists of coffee and bananas. Sandwiches cost a fortune, but you can get a huge plate of french fries for only $3. There are lots of restaurants in town only a 15 minute stroll away, so there's no need to eat in the hotel. Take the local bus up to the sloth sanctuary "aviarios del caribe sloth refuge". If you love wildlife, it's a must see.

“Filthy, indifferent service, terrible food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2009

We book this hotel for nearly $100 per night for a largish room, thinking that it would be nice, since it received a good review from the lonely planet guide. we arrived to find a filthy room with gecko poop literally everywhere, dirty, frayed bedding and a filthy tub/shower. the staff was not terribly responsive to our requests to change the bedding or to clean the room. the did not offer any sort of discount. their service was indifferent at best. the beach outside the hotel was not very nice, the pool was dirty and falling apart. would definitley not recommend for anyone to stay here.

“The best place on the carribian coast/ realy”

I was tired of large resort and big hotels that really don t let you really taste the real nature that surround you, but Atlantida lodge really does, there few others hotels that does almost the same thing on the area, but not as good like Atlantida lodge. Its a paradise , really, you have to see with your eyes so I can t describe all beautiful things that it have, but considering the room, the cleanness and service, its good to be a hotel that don t try to be a big commercial hotel. Those people that where commenting before, don t trust them if you’re not a rich boy that don t like little gecko in your room...
It worth all the money that you give, and I hope you enjoy the unique Caribbean/jungle paradise

ps: I have been travel all my life in different place, I am not a novice travelling, so don t expect that its my first trip and that’s why I so much appreciated it, its really impressive how a little hotel like that can amaze you so much

  • Liked — the real nature
  • Disliked — i am trying to thinking but for a hotel of this style, i don t find
