“Awesome for seasoned independent travellers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

This is a fantastic hotel. Initially came for 5 days, and will be staying for 9. Right on the water. Clean, basic, airconditioned.

If you are a seasoned independent traveller, this is a great spot.

Room Tip: Room #1 has the most space, but is on the ground floor.

“Basic Accommodations with A/C, Great Location and Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2011

My $45/night room was 25 yards from the ocean, with a great view. They allowed me to check in on a Sunday at 9AM without an extra fee. On a Sunday night, the hotel was quiet. It was just steps from the entrance to the Cahuita National Park - and there is no entrance fee at that park entrance. The room was small but clean, and included a "cube" refrigerator but no washcloths. The A/C worked perfectly, which is important because Cahuita is very hot and humid. There is an inside wood table and two chairs that can be used for reading or laptop use, and a similar plastic table and chairs outside of your room. The wireless Internet signal was weak and varied by location in the hotel. There are many restaurants, two small grocery stores, and small shops within easy walking distance. Several boats will take you snorkeling for 2-3 hours for $25/person; mine included breakfast. The location is perfect and the rooms are a great value for sleeping.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

The location of this hotel is the best in Cahuita, but the rooms are spartan and basic as can be. The bathrooms, however, are very big, as big as the room with the bed itself. This is a nice place to stay for a few days while you are exploring the part and the beaches in the area. It's close to everything in town. In fact, it has the best location of any place to stay in the town. There are fancier places, probably nicer, outside of Cahuita if that's what you want. This place is rather new, or seemed to be under construction. There was a TV in the room, a refrigerator, (tiny) free wi-fi on the table outside the room (in the construction area) and the best view of the ocean from the balcony. Every room has it's own tables and the corner room with a view is the best. Right on the beach! Nicely run and friendly and helpful management.

“Wonderful and convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2010

You can't be closer the the entrance to the park than this hotel. We had a wonderful view of the beach right out our front door which couldn't be beat. The rooms were nice and clean. Everything worked as you would expect and having traveled around Costa Rica, I felt it was a good price. The staff was friendly and allowed us to check-out a bit late and leave stuff at reception while in the park.

We were on the park side of the hotel which probably kept noise down from the couple of bars along the main strip. While some people on here have complained about the noise, I found being at one end of the main strip as very convenient (we stopped back to get my camera and then drop it off again before going dancing). A big plus is that it's within the well-lit part of town (though on the edge). As a woman, it definitely felt safer than staying at some of the places further along the road out of town when coming back at night.

“bare minimum but probably the best in this town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2010

no phone, no computer (although they did have free wifi if u brought a phone or laptop), no restaurant or free breakfast, safe wasn't working, cable tv went out, there was loud construction outside our room, but it was clean, had AC and right on the beach. loved listening to the water as i went to sleep. can't say much for the front desk employees, but the maid was wonderful and very helpful. We were only in Cahuita to visit the sloth sanctuary and rescue, but enjoyed the little town and beach while there. by the way, the beach right by the hotel is dangerous for swimming, although we did anyway, i wouldn't recommend it. there are red flags and signs around warning of the danger. The national park is a waste of time unless u have a guide to point out the animals. we didnt, and only saw crabs, a frog and a squirrel. but if you are in cahuita DEFINITELY go see the sloth sanctuary!! so amazing!
