“Serene”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

I stays at the aptly named Casa de Flores and its magical garden for a week while on business in San Jose. The manager (Emily) was delightful and arranged everything for me (taxis; trips; yoga; dinner; massages) leaving me to just enjoy the splendour of the garden and the view. I feel utterly rejuvenated!

I will be back... if only for the Tico breakfast and the areppas. Thank you for

“Beautiful and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2011

My husband and I, along with another couple, spent a week at Casa De Flores in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. It was our first time traveling out of the USA and everything went very smoothly- thanks mostly to Emilie, our hostess. The home and the grounds were beautiful, spacious and secluded. We had a spectacular view of the city at night and saw much of Costa Rica's beauty on day trips arranged by Emilie. Freddy prepared us huge, gourmet breakfasts and he even taught us a few recipes! Emilie and Freddy were the perfect hosts, and we hated to say good by at the end of the week. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

“Exactly what I was searching for..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

As a freelance travel writer I obviously get about the place quite a bit but I'm always particuarly happy when I find a place such as Casa de Flores. Emilie and Freddy made me feel wonderfuly welcome from the beginning, both very friendly and polite. Whenever I needed something they were on hand but similarily when I wanted some time on my own the beautiful garden and swimming pool seemed to become my own private spa!
I left feeling refreshed and alive - emotions so often devoid in other hotels around.

I will defnitely be coming back.

“A wonderful place to unwind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

My wife and I spent 7 days at Casa de Flores over Christmas and had a great time. Emilie (the property manager) and Freddy (the chef / all around helper) made sure that everything went smoothly. The homecooked food was great, and when we were tired of meals that were on the menu and just wanted a sandwich or pizza, they made it happen.

They arranged our zip line trip, travel to / from the airport, and Emilie even took us to downtown San Jose for a local festival.

The views from the expansive porch are just amazing, and were just what we needed.

Next time we want to get away from it all, Casa de Flores will definitely be on our list!

“Enchanting pearl”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2010

Every time I have visited Costa Rica and stayed at Casa de Flores, the hardest part is leaving it. The smile, warm and joyful welcome of his owner Robert Nuey , is contagious , I have been lucky to have been there when he has been in Costa Rica and experienced nothing but a positive athmosphere, his staf is a reflexion of himself as well, the grownds are just beautiful, once the gates open and you enter the place, it feels like you j ust arrived at paradise, the flowers, birds, butterflies seem to be part of the magic one feels while walking in the gardens as they welcome you too.......
The rooms are elegant decorated, also giving you a home feeling, you feel completly relaxed, the beds are very comfortable, the bathrooms welcoming and relaxing as well.

I loved to sit on the balcony and be witness of the most spectcular sunsets, just breathtaking. I have visited during summer and rainy season and enjoyed both the same, the privacy that this hidden pearl offers is priceless, as it makes you feel so relaxed, is such nice feeling... The food is excellent, fresh vegetables, fruits, excellence in every bite you try of the menu they offer.

They are also excellent a providing help with tours, transportation, etc. As well as giving and arranging tours to other turist atract ions.
Barba is a charming little town, in the mountains of Heredia where you do get the feeling of the Costa Rica of the past with the amenities of the future available. The people are nice and friendly, the roads once you leave the Casa de Flores take you to beautiful mountains planted with coffee , the amazing Volcan Poas is j ust short distance and the scenery is absolutly lovely.

I look foward for my next visit to Casa de Flores, where I have nothing but great memories....... thank you Rob, Emily and rest of the staf for such making my experience such a nice one.
