“Paradise found!!!!”

We have traveled to a warm climate every year for the last 10 years vowing never to visit the same place twice. After visiting Casa Cook, this will all end. We can not imagine vacationing anywhere else because we know we will compare it to Casa Cook and it will never be as amazing. We already booked the same beachfront cabina for next year.
The place is immaculate. The pool is refreshing and clean. The grounds are kept spotless. Although safety does not seem to be a problem in Tamarindo, the staff goes the extra mile to ensure this with a 24 hour security guard on grounds.
The cabinas are nicely equipped with everything you need. The staff are friendly and attentive but remain in the background making you feel like you own a little piece of Tamarindo during your stay.
I was hesitant to write this review because I selfishly wanted to keep this very special place to myself. I caught a glimpse of the reservation book for next year and they seem to book up quickly.
If you are lucky enough to stay at Casa Cook, I am sure you will understand why myself and the 3 others staying at the resort that week all booked another trip there next year before we left.
We planned on renting a car when we arrived but decided Casa Cook was so special and conveniently located, there was no place else we would rather be for the entirety of our stay.
Things I recommend:
Bring sun screen and ample cash (credit cards not always accepted and extra fees apply)
The River tour with their drier Olman
Buying anything from the German Baker that comes in a truck in Tuesdays and Fridays
Saturday night BBQ and show at Captain Suzio
Boogie Boarding to the island off the beach at Casa Cook

Room Tip: All rooms are equally amazing and have a great proximity to the pool and beach.

“Costa Rican beach front paradise”

We stayed here for New Years into 2012; booked the room directly by emailing casa cook and communicated directly with Marie to confirm a reservation for 4 in a beach front cabina. She even arranged for their driver Olman to pick us up from Liberia airport for 75 dollars (about and hour and a half drive) when we arrived Maria greeted us and walked us to the beach front cabina which is literally steps away from the beach and about 10 mins walking from the craziness of downtown which you can either do on te street or walk along the beach. Two wonderful gentlemen would bring out beach chairs each morning and set them up wherever you wanted. They were even security at night so if they saw you coming they would hold the gate open for you. The cabina had a full bedroom and then a half wall with a futon which was very comfortable so the place slept 4 very cozily. There was a full kitchen and you were supplied with dishes cups and silverware along with ingredients to make coffee. The cabina was neatly decorated with bookshelfs lined with books you could take with you if you wanted to lay on the beach. We were able to book Olman for 180 transfer to our next destination in La Fortuna which was definitely worth it considering we got a personal air conditioned transfer and Olman stopped anytime we wanted to take pictures, grab lunch, ATM etc..... Extremely friendly to talk to as well. At night this hotel is a bit up from the action of town so it can be a bit nervous on your walk home but were are for our entire visit. Beach was great and we had perfect weather during our stay with the beach being not too crowded and we even bought from the man selling coconut water as he came across the sand each morning.

“It doesn't get any better than this”

Don't hesitate -- book Casa Cook. You won't be disappointed. Casa Cook is a little slice of heaven here on earth. I have a feeling that I will be back.... hopefully many, many times.

Everything -- from the staff, to the location, to the cabina, to the grounds -- was absolutely perfect for us.

We stayed in one of the ocean front cabinas which was fabulous. The layout of the cabina is a great utilization of space, also it is appointed nicely. I liked the little things, like the books on the bookshelf and the resident outdoor cat named Buddy, that made me feel right at home. The bed was comfortable, unlike what some other people have written, but maybe there are different beds in other rooms.

Our cabina was literally right on the beach. The beach was fabulous. I loved walking over to the tide pools during low tide to see the crabs and small fish in the water. There were good waves in the late afternoon/evening and it was really fun to boogie board or watch the surfers. This beach is the ipitomy of "pura vida." When you're there say hi to my doggie friends, Oreo and Double Stuff (my names for them). They are two small black and white spotted dogs who roam the beach that are sweet as pie.

The resort is run by Marie (the manager) and Ruthann (the owner). Ignacio and Anthony are the gaurds. You could not ask for a better staff. Anthony would wait for us to come back from dinner. He would see our flashlight coming down the beach and would post himself at the gate to open the door for us. So sweet. Really nice guys. Ignacio was really good about bringing out lounge chairs onto the beach for me everyday.

The town of Tamarindo is a 10 minute walk down the beach. Tamarindo is hectic during the day, so it was nice to be a little ways from the town. I would recommend Nougi's for dinner -- fabulous food and the best coconut cream pie of your life!

Olman, the driver for Casa Cook, is a really top-notch guy. He is honest and speaks great English. His van is nice and looks brand new. Olman took us on a Palo Verde river tour (fabulous!) and also was kind enough to pick us up at 6am for a short-fare to the Tamarindo airport for our Nature Air flight to San Jose. Olman has been driving for Casa Cook for 12+ years.

I hope you decide to go with Casa Cook. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Go for the ocean front cabinas. Worth every penny in my opinion!

“Ideal except for the beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Casa Cook is a real gem. Cozy, charming, private but still close to town. This place is nearly perfect except for the beds. Our mattress was horrendous, totally wrecked our backs. What a shame because nearly everything else was absolutely AMAZING!

“Simply Fabulous!”

My boyfriend and I recently went to Tamarindo for a Thanksgiving getaway. We had heard about Casa Cook prior to going and all of our expectations were met. It was simply fabulous! The staff were so attentive to all of our needs. I would definitely recommend Casa Cook if you're looking for a beautiful, quiet and relaxing place to stay right on the beach. Our 7 days there were amazing!
