We were locked into a specific timeframe in January 2012, and my first choice (Capitan Suizo) and 2nd choice (Hotel Diria) were booked, so we went with this hotel for 3 nights, my 3rd choice, despite my apprehensiveness about reports of it being noisy, especially from 9:00 pm - 1:30 am each Friday night, for Ladies' Night, at the bar. I requested a room as far away from the pool & bar as possible. Our room was 2 rooms away, with no chance of changing rooms. We got a "Corona Suite," with a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bath and private verandah with a terrific view. It was spacious, a bit shabby, but comfortable. We got 3 large spiders in the room over 2 days, which surprised me, as we weren't near any forest. Our room shared a door with the suite next door (I understand 2 connecting rooms, but 2 connecting suites?!). There were gaps all around the shared door, so we could hear everything they said next door, and they had a party our first night. Our 2nd night, Friday, the party started before 9:00 and I couldn't believe how loud the live band sounded in our room. Earplugs didn't dent it. The pool area was small, but nice, with a terrific view. The included continental breakfast had cut fruit, cold cereal, juice and bread to toast. You could pay for breakfast that included eggs. It was good. We ate all our meals at the hotel, and enjoyed them. The mango smoothies here were the best of the whole trip. The beach is across the street from the hotel (with small vendors, like surf shops, located on the beach side of the road). The tree debris enroute to the beach can be hazardous, as some braches have long thorns; both of us had our flip flops stabbed clear through, just missing our feet. However, the trees do provide shade from the sun, which is nice. The beach is wide, the water very warm (78-85 F), and the surf was one foot all 3 days we were there, a real disappointment. The first day, the breeze caused the sand to blow sideways for 4 feet above the level of the sand, which is unpleasant. If you just have to go to Tamarindo in hopes of good surf, I'd suggest the Diria (I didn't actually see the Suizo to comment on it). It's also across the street from the beach, and is in the center of town, but looked much nicer than our hotel, and simply has to be quieter.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us, but we must take exception with at least one of the points you are crediting us with in your review. While we would love to be able to control the waves, that is one thing that remains out of our jurisdiction! We get the impression that if the surf were better, you would have enjoyed your stay a lot more.
However, there is nothing we can do about the surf, as much as we would like.
On the other hand, as you noted, we do maintain a hotel that offers spacious Corona Suites at the price less than you would pay for a Classic Room in a hotel like the Diria or a room without air conditioning at Capitan Suizo. Ours is about value, service, and of course, as you noticed, the view. You’d be surprised at how many of our guests enjoy the amenities of the connecting doors, especially the large families who come down and spend time with us.
Our Friday night party, featuring the live Salsa band, has been going for years. It draws people from all over the country, the vast majority of our in-house guests enjoy the event, and many book specifically to partake in the festivities. We realize the party may not be for everybody, but seriously, we offer ear plugs to our guests, and on the property, we don’t get complaints very often.
We love the fact that enjoyed our restaurant enough to have all your meals with us. That says a lot about our food, which is yet another reason that our guests keep coming back to us again and again. Let’s hope that upon reflection you will feel that way too.
