Service provided is responsive and engaged. Great beds, clean rooms, and knowledgeable staff are provided. They are the only beach front hotel any place I have seen in Tamarindo. The pool on the far side is nice and fun to visit. The bar/ restaurant on the beach side is amazing the provides the ambiance of an established resort that is impossible to copy.
That being said, both times I have stayed here I reserved a second floor ocean view room and they failed to have one reserved for me. Both times I had to stay in an inferior room for the first night while waiting for my requested room to be available. My take away has been expect issues if you stay here, but they will resolve them.
It’s hard to be too upset with a hotel the delivers this sort of unique setting. But you pay for the luxury, this place isn’t cheap. I will stay here again; it’s a great way to end a trip in Costa Rica.

If they offer you room 103, don't even leave the reception desk. It's described as "Sunset King". Both statements are technically true; it faces west and has a king-sized bed. The appeal ends there. The room is about 3 ft larger than the bed in three dimensions, it is the closest room to the bar and two restaurants, might as well have an open window because it has no sound proofing, and when we checked in did not have a hairdryer and the bathroom extraction fan did not work. A major disappointment to have travelled 2,000 miles to discover.

My wife and I completed our four day stay on Feb. 12, 2012. The grounds and views are beautiful. The service is ugly! First of all we did not receive the room catagory which was confirmed to us. It took 5 phone calls over two days, to get them to remove the contents of the mini fridge in our room. Showers were either cold or luke warm at best. Bathroom was smaller than one finds on a cruise ship. Restaurant did not serve what was ordered. When we asked why we were told that they often do not have a key item in the receipe so they substitute something else, but do not tell you that.

My wife was in the bar and ordered a drink at 6pm. At 6:25 it still was not delivered. She found the witer who said it was coming. She left at 6:35 and never did receive her drink.

I hjust had aa very enjoyable stay at this hotel. I highly recommend it and its services tyo anyone going to Costa Rica.
