This hotel was wonderful and here we saw our first rays of sunshine during our rainy Costa Rica trip. My husband and I stayed here because of the price (great), but we were stunned with how nice the lovely owners are. We stayed in the littler of the two buildings on the property. Our room was the smallest, but that is all that we needed for our purposes—getting out and exploring the area. Really, there’s not a whole lot to do as far as activities go unless you truly seek them out in the area of Samara. (Tip: Playa Carrillo is another equally nice beach just south of Samara.) However, walking along the beach is very scenic and relaxing. One night we even saw a bull rodeo at the local bull ring, which was maybe 200 yards from this place. (Tip: GO to one of these if you can. Hilarious. Drunken locals hop into the ring as the cowboys try to wrangle the bull who just recently bucked the bull rider off. Also, pay to stand next to the bull ring fence… more exciting that way and cheaper!) Back to the hotel: the place is lovely and has a computer with internet, a fully equipped kitchen, and a nice area to sit outside and relax (even in a hammock). The ooooonly downside to our stay was that a Costa Rican family with about 4 or 5 teenagers was staying on our side of the hotel; with one bathroom ion this side, there tended to be a fight to get to it to use the shower... so hopefully you won't have that bad timing.
