Want to relax? Want to have an amazing time with the one you love the most? Want to wake up to the wind from the ocean in your private beach bungalo? Want to walk less than 20 feet to learn how to surf? Then the Samara Tree House Inn is where you want to be! My husband and I took our first trip here as a newly dating couple back in 2010. Wow, what a way to win a girl over! And he did so much that we spent 2 weeks of our honeymoon at the Tree House! What a treat! First, the rooms are perfect. Cute, cozy and equipped with every thing you need, whether it's a hot shower after the surf, or a warm cooked meal in your own kitchenette if your in Costa Rica for a lengthy time. And the view, OHMYWORD is it ridiculous! Gorgeous in each direction. Imagine walking right out onto the beach from your own porch to the dinner of your choice that night. The pool is a fun meeting place too! Make new friends from San Francisco to New York, maybe even Canada or Scotland (we did!)! If you're looking to stay cozy and keep to yourself, curl up in one of the hammocks for a day of reading, or napping :) Costa Rica is amazing in itself, but staying at a place like the Samara Tree House Inn really makes you feel at home thanks to the owner, Bob, and his wonderful staff, including Esther.

It was great having a personal suite for our honeymoon here. The apartments are charming, the views and landscaping were incredible, and the location in Samara can't be beat. It is on a prime beach location and right in the action of the town. There is a decently stocked market across the street to stock up on staples (snacks and beer) and attempt some meals on your own. I liked not having to go out to eat for every meal. I noticed that the bungalows #2-5 have b-b-q grills on their patios which would be really fun to do for dinner.

We stayed in #1, which is the pool-side bungalow. It is not directly on the beach, but because the other bungalows are raised, we still had a pretty good view of the ocean from inside. It was private enough, and from what I gather, exactly the same set up as the raised bungalows (#2-5). If you are on a budget, it was about $35 cheaper a night and still a good suite.

Playa Samara is a great little beach town- there is good wandering potential, a few surf/ gift shops, some good restaurants and most importantly, quite a few choices for getting a pina colada (or any other blended fruit drink you could imagine) served on the beach. Also, the beach sand is nice and the swimming is good. The waves are just enough to be fun but not big enough to be really attractive to surfers.

We did not have any problems with having no A/C in January, like some of the other reviewers.

The Samara Tree House Inn was absolutely what you imagine it will be. Those pictures sum it up perfectly, so don't expect more property than you see, because that is it. The kitchen is well equipped, the living room was comfortable, although the furniture was a little worn. The pool was a good size for the few amount of rooms on site, of course not everyone used it at once, so it was perfect for my husband and I (and our neighbors 7 year old son who was great!).

It was very rainy in July when we arrived, so we made use of our rooms a lot. We had some problems with our TV, and the front desk changed it out for a newer version straight-away.
Otherwise, we we were pretty much problem free.

The one major flaw was the lack of bug-control, and how freely and easily they moved about inside the tree house. Of course we expected them, and respected the "kill nothing" mantra (it's Costa Rica for goodness sake!), but we were less than comfortable at night time with only the small, half-body-covering netting. If full-bed nets were installed, I would have rated this property Excellent.

This is a unique hotel that we really enjoyed. We had the #3 treehouse, it is open air, with a great view. We loved having breakfast in our area below the tree house. We also really like the hammocks. The location is prime in Samara, I didn't see anywhere that I would prefer to have stayed. The waves crashed in all night lulling us to sleep. I would recommend this hotel to those planning a stay in this very sleepy little town.
