This hotel is a favorite with us, in a sleepy town where the entertainment is the beach. The staff is caring and wonderful and the rooms are simple, tidy and clean. With two wonderful pools there is a lot of fun here, or quiet, as you wish. The location can't be beat, with both fabulous upper level views and right on the beach. We love the staff who has been there for many years: caring and compassionate people.
ALSO A NEW RESTAURANT for evening meals open to the public as well as hotel guests!!! We had a very gourmet experience there with the most amazing food at the beach! A Swiss Chef and his Brazilian partner are ready to cook you up a meal of gourmet "tastelets" of many flavors that will make you Ohhhh and Ahhh.

We had bungalow no 20, the first room after the reception. The wifi reached our little terrace, otherwise you would have to sit close to the reception. King bed OK but no blanket just a sheet. We were a little cold from the a/c but forgot to ask for a blanket before the reception closed at 8 pm. LOTS of mosquitos. I don't know if this was just for this hotel or for Samara in general this period - the staff said it was due to the heavy rains before. Friendly staff but not highest service quality. The German owner didn't speak English but if you talked to him in Spanish he seemed to try to be somewhat social. His dog was a terrible beast, though, and really intimidating with his loud and vicious barkning. He sometimes let it run loose which I cannot understand, it was really scary. He did try to quiet it down, and told the dog off when it was running towards us, but really! He should not let the dog near the hotel at all if he is interested in the well being of the (paying) guests. We walked to town on the beach every day for lunch and dinner, took around 10 minutes but bring a flashlight or head lamp. Just had the breakfast that was included at the hotel and it was OK but nothing special. I just barely recommend this hotel. It was fairly good value (USD 86 + 15 extra for our 9 year old), it's nice to stay so close to the beach so you can go between the beach and pool all day, and it was not too far to walk to town.

This hotel should be avoided at all costs. Well situated just steps from the beach Las Brisas appears at first glance to be a good choice. There is a nice pool. The rooms are housed in cheerful looking adobe cottages. there is a large restaurant area. The rooms are moderately clean and altho they appeared very 50's there was nothing apparently askew. But dont be fooled. Look closely! The beds are literally INFESTED with small bugs making it impossible to sleep or even lie on them! I did not get undressed and semi-slept on top of these beds.
The owner, a dour non english speaking german man was uninterested in hearing anything from me and just sort of grunted and walked away. This was not surprising > during the night (the most uncomfortable night!) I could here his chained up dog frighteningly howling at the copious thunder and lightening the night brought. I felt very very sorry for the poor pup and got my butt out of this horrible place very early the next morning. I should have recalled the low (and rightfully so!) rating this dump had received on Trip Advisor but it somehow escaped me. BEWARE..... THE PLACE IS BUGGED!

The downfall of this hotel is they advertise "secured" parking. Well this was not really the case. We arrived at the hotel and upon checking in were advised that our room was not ready yet. We thought no problem, we would grab a drink at the bar for 30 min or so.

Well when we were able to get our room, we went to the car (locked mind you) to get our luggage only to find the car was broken in to and some of our things were gone. We lost a total of about $3000 worth of items (but thankfully no passports or cash).

We went back and told the bar tender and he comes out to help us. There is supposedly a security guard watching the parking lot but he was no where to be found. The bar tender calls for him and he emerges from the upper villas and of course saw nothing. Our best guess is he was either taking a nap or was in on the heist.

We are outraged since this place advertises "secure parking." The front desk staff is very unhelpful and tells us we must wait until the next day to talk to the owner since he will be in. The owner is a horribly unfriendly German. He wants nothing to do with us and refuses to take responsibility for his lack of security in his parking lot. He gave us our stay (6 nights) for free which amounted to about $800. This is far less than the $3000 worth of items that were stolen. On top of that, we did not feel very secure after that so it was rather difficult to enjoy ourselves.

I would strongly recommend choosing another hotel in Playa Samara. There are plenty of other locations both on and off the main beach that I am sure run a much better operation.
