It's clear that Doug and Rosie, the owners of this hotel, are doing everything they can to make the place a success. There are 12 large rooms--modern, clean, nicely decorated with lots of windows, on a quiet lot. The hotel is not on the beach but is within walking distance of two beaches--one heavily populated and the other almost deserted--your choice.
A full breakfast is included in the price and the small restaurant is open all day for food and drinks. Food is good and the price is reasonable. We ate most of our meals here. It was prettier than in town and the food was better.
Doug and Rosie do their best to be helpful, arranging activities, checking on how you're doing, telling you about speed traps and recommending a restaurant for your trip to your next destination. They are working hard and so are the rest of the staff.
Yesterday, a woman walked in to get a take-out lunch for herself and her partner who was with their luggage, in a broken rental car up the road, waiting for the car company to come. She wasn't staying at the hotel but Rosie drove her back to her car anyway.
I was glad we had a car. You can stay here without a car but it's going to be challenging..
Howler sightings vary from day to day but we got the closest we've ever been to a family group in a tree by the pool. There is also a resident iguana and various other lizards.
