We always come here, it is lovely. The food at the restauraunt is great. I also Love the pool, there are three pools. And for children there is a small two foot pool for them. I love walking into the rooms for the first time, they have the towels shaped like a swan, and the tisues are very organized. LOL :)Oh yeah, There is a lovely view on the deck at the restauraunt.

rooms were old, not any night life, service sucks there gratuety is all ready included in everything so service at the resterant was terrible, slow, allot of them did not undertsand english at all. house keeper was okay, front desk was sometimes not as friendly, the water turned my friends hair green at the pool after 4hrs of swimming so people with blonde hair be aware. they have a poolside bar but was never open the whole 7 days we were there. resterant food was groose allot of bugs flying around. but there was a few nice scienary, not much on the beach though it could be allot cleaner. not many resterants around there or shopping, but you must visit costa rica very pretty there lots of animals and things to do if you are willing to do a little driving

We stayed at the Condovac the week of April 25-30.
We made sure to request one of the renovated rooms and the room was lovely.
It was clean, spacious, and had a lot of supplies in the kitchen (not that we ever cooked during vacation).
When reading the reviews online, I thought people were being wimpy about the hills on the property, but they were intense! Fortunately we were about halfway down in the 400 level so it wasn’t too bad a walk down to the beach. The beach itself was very nice. There was a decent amount of shade, especially if you got there early, but there were plenty of people who interrupted my reading to try to sell me something. Why would I want to buy another timeshare property when I am already a member of RCI?

Trip Providers:

We used Carlos of [--]
He was fantastic and I highly recommend him.
Contact him via his email and he’ll get back to you right away.
He took just the two of us on the Miravalles Adventure.
This included zip lining, traditional lunch, then a horseback ride (or tractor, if you prefer) to a hidden waterfall, and finally mud baths and hot springs.
Try the new waterslide. It’s a lot of fun!
Carlos was very reliable, easy to contact, and his price was better than others.

We booked a “sunset cruise” through Charlie’s Adventures on the property.
This was definitely not as nice an experience as we were expecting and mostly a waste of money. We had to take a little dinghy out to the real boat, which was actually a fishing boat. Hopefully you don’t need to use the bathroom because it’s under the stairs and kind of weird. The “open bar” did live up to the open part, you just can’t get anything other than rum or rum. If you want a good deal on alcohol, go to happy hour at Condovac- it’s two for one and the price is still low. The food on the cruise was sliced fruit, chips, salsa, and dip.

Food:

Very glad we did not pay for the all inclusive at Condovac.
We are vegetarians and there were almost no options.
We ate at the restaurant for one lunch and were disappointed.
We also ordered pizza through room service one night. Let’s just say, don’t go to Costa Rica for the pizza.

All the reviews about Ginger were right. The food was delicious and the service was good. We ate there twice. Probably the best food of the trip.

We also ate twice at Mama’s Deli restaurant in Tamarindo (90 minutes away). They have tables literally in the sand on the beach. The main dishes were decent and the hazelnut crepes and vanilla ice cream were excellent. We also enjoyed fresh fruit smoothies while sitting on the beach.

Definitely avoid El Yugo on the way back from Llanos de Cortez waterfall, which was beautiful and worth the 30-40 minute drive. It requires a 5 minute hike downhill, but you can swim in the pool and the waterfall.

The last day of our trip we drove inland to Arenal. If we had known how beautiful it was at the Volcano, we would have stayed there longer. It was approximately a 4 hour drive each way. We stayed at Volcano Lodge, which had clean rooms, an excellent breakfast buffet (included in the price), and friendly staff. I went on their website and spoke to the staff the week before the trip to book a hike to the volcano and trip to the hot springs. Definitely visit the hot springs. There are several options. We were told that Baldi would be the most crowded, but it didn’t seem that way.

We debated whether or not to get a car, but were glad we had one. The four wheel drive did come in handy. In general, the roads weren’t as bad as we were expecting, but in some places they were pretty rough. We used Vamos rental company and they were excellent. They met us at the airport with the car and did all of the paperwork right there. Vamos was accurate about the price, with the one exception of a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. Many of the other car rental quotes do not include all of the taxes and mandatory insurance.

We flew into Liberia, which was less than an hour away from Condovac. But if you visit Arenal at the beginning or end of your trip, it might be easier to fly into San Jose.

We stayed for a week, we were rather nervous, weren't sure what to expect after reading a lot of mixed reviews. The resort was fine, the infinity pool was great, the kids loved it, it was less crowded than the other two pools. The food at the restaurant was okay, unfortunately it was mostly Western food rather than Costa Rican. We had stayed in Tortuguero the previous week so had only eaten Costa Rican food up to that point, CR food is fantastic. We found a great restaurant only a few minutes walk from the resort, Pescada Loco, fantastic seafood and rice dishes, they also have pastas.
Would definitely recommend going on day trips, Anna is a tour rep, she is always on the beach, we went to Rincon (hot springs and an amazing waterfall) and on the river tour, we saw so many crocodiles and the capuchin monkeys actually climbed on to the roof of our boat, it was fantastic. Our tour guide Mario was wonderful, he is very friendly.
One caution, do not trust the wake up call service, we asked for it three times, they called the first time but not the second two...we had back up alarm clocks...but still.

First of all I bought there so this stay was a freebe sorta. Management wasn't always expedient but good. I had two rooms (big family) the one bedroom will sleep 6 just not live 6. The electrical needs attention. Good place to tour out of, most every thing fairly close. Would be nice if it was all inclusive. The internet (WiFi) is very slow. I had a good strong signal the first day, but rest sucked, but roughly $8 for 3 days I couldn't complain that much. Pool was nice, refreshing. Weather was hot and dry. Take plenty of sunscreen.
