We stayed at La Finisterra for four nights in early Jan 2012 while in Costa Rica for a wedding. We enjoyed this small, 10 room hotel immensely and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Pacific beach area of CR. An easy drive from the Liberia airport, and set up high overlooking the bay, you couldn't ask for better views of the ocean.

We had an ocean view room, simply appointed, but more than adequate because you aren't spending your days in the room. The bed was really firm, but fine for the short time we were there.

The hotel staff was wonderful, very kind and extremely helpful. Our first night we unfortunately had someone back into our car, and the hotel managers helped us work through all of the details that evening, and the following morning. Without their assistance it could have been a horrible ordeal, but they helped take care of everything so we could get back to our vacation.

The food was excellent. The included breakfast was more than satisfying. My husband particularly enjoyed the "typical" breakfast which included rice, beans, fruit, eggs and juice. Their pancakes are like none you've ever tasted, and were wonderful. We only ate dinner at the hotel one evening due to the various wedding activities going on, but the mahi mahi that we had was amazing, along with the herbed potatoes and vegetable. A wonderful meal.

The pool area and patio were small, but It was perfect for the size of the hotel. You could probably spend all day there enjoying the amazing view of the beach and ocean. There was also a nice long balcony with chairs and a small sofa overlooking the ocean as well, perfect for reading, or relaxing in the fresh air.

We would highly encourage anyone visiting the Playa Hermosa area to stay at this lovely hotel.

With its location up a steep hill away from the beach, Hotel Finisterra, has great views but is quite a walk down and up to the beach. We resorted to using our car for the pre-breakfast beach walk. Our room had a good view, but was small, musty when closed up, lacked a safe and refirgerator, and did not have good cross ventilation when the windows were open. I was warned that the chef could be inconsistent and we found that our one meal was only OK with the entree tuna to be "chewy". Also, the meal was over-priced. The breakfast was very good with the choice of continental, Tico (my favorite) or American. The staff in general were very good except for an overly solicitous waiter who almost upon arrival whisked us off to the wine cellar to select our dinner wine. We declined the offer as I don't drink wine and my wife limits her consumption to a glass or two. Of all the help, Charlotte, deserves our highest praises as she was "genuine" in her efforts to help us. We would probably would not stay at the hotel again as we value proximity to the beach over grand view; though we would recommend the hotel to others with a caveat about the location,

This small hotel offers magnificent views of Playa Hermosa, very nice rooms, superb service, and a great restaurant. The only glitch is that access to the (gorgeous) beach involves walking down a steep hill. Those of limited mobility may find this a major problem. At the same time, since it’s only a few hundred meters a taxi seems absurd. If I ran this place I’d figure out a way to offer a shuttle to the beach.

This is a great hotel. It sits high upon a hill, with a great view of the beach. The drive up to the hotel is on a VERY steep hill, but even our poor little rental car could get up with no trouble.

Our room (an ocean view room) was a good size, spotless, and had a very good view. Very simple, just a bed, tv/desk, and bathroom. Two windows that you could open to hear the waves, and a great view of the birds in the morning.

The restaurant was very good, both for dinner and for the included breakfast. Our only complaint was that since it was open-air, it was exposed to the bugs. We saw a gigantic spider there, but after a laugh with the staff, they caught it and removed it for us. :)

The pool and patio area were SO nice, we could have stayed out there all day long and never missed the beach.

Only complaint was that it was hard to find from the road the first time (tiny sign and easy to miss in the dark).

Otherwise, everything was excellent. The staff was very friendly, and very helpful with our questions. Truly a great hotel, highly recommended!
