“We enjoyed it a lot : to be recommended”

We spent three nights in one of their honeymoon suite (#11) with sea view, which is largely blocked by trees, but still. The room's spacious, furniture not really modern, with a huge walk-in shower facility.
We didn't use the pool, which is rather small, more like a cold jacuzzi...
Since short, the Hotel has become an institutional member to two clubs, which enables hotel guests to use these facilities, too and that's a really gorgeous thing. One club is just a few metres from the beach, next to Father Roosters Restaurant & Bar: the Club is just about to open, no kitchen or any drinks yet, but the pool's fine!
The other club is back in Coco village, some 3 km from the Hotel: and it's fantastic! What a swimming pool! And a fully fledged air-conditioned gym to work out! BUT: no restaurant / bar yet operational but soon to come, as we were told.
The owner lady and her staff are very friendly and helpful, you really feel like sharing their private house with them, they'd always be around, ready for a chat and to be consulted.
The Hotel is for sale these days and we hope that the potential new owners will carry on with the same, charming spirit as is/was the case only a week ago.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the suites with seaview

“beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2011

beautiful little hotel with an amazing sea view. located about 300 meters from the beach, much more quiet than the huge l'ocotal resort in the bay. rooms are very spacious with great showers and beds, very relaxed. breakfast on the porch in company of three parrots, suzy being the one to never shut up, constant source of amusement. the receptionist is very helpful as well.

ocotal is a few minutes(four dollar cab ride) outside of playa del coco, much more quiet and relaxed though. going to coco beach is really only good for dinner and going to the supermarket.

if you are like us and you like scuba diving, you can take advantage of the dive shop at the resort down at the beach, two dives including equipment are about $100 per person, you get to see lots of stingrays, sea snakes, octopus and in between dives you'll see whales if you are lucky. highly recommended.

“Hotel Villa Casa Blanca”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2011

Our room was adequate, nothing special with a decent size bathroom, a/c, and was clean (ants in the bathroom though). The parrots at breakfast were very entertaining. The pool was great. Short walk to the beach and “Father Roosters” restaurant; short drive to the town. The owner was extremely helpful with accommodations, directions, suggestions on sightseeing and so on.

“Warm greeting, with wonderful hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

I had visited Casa Blanca 13 years prior, and had good memories of the B&B, and although the owner had changed, her hospitality was above and beyond.

“Really wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2011

Hotel Villa Casa Blanca is a secret that must be shared. The owner, Modesta, was of great help as we were constantly changing our arrival and departure day within a few days of each other. Gina works 7 days a week and provided the best service.
We booked an ocean view suite, but the trees in the distance block most of the view. The shower is massive, but the glass shower door didn't come in on time and we were stuck with a cheap curtain that fell a couple of times though it was fixed right away. The bathroom walls didn't connect to the ceiling, so there was a little bit of privacy issues with that, but it seems that all the other rooms had walls and doors to them. Other than that, the room was spacious, AC, writing desk, chairs for reading and large windows.
You can walk right to the beautiful Ocotal Beach from the hotel as well as to a few restaurants on the beach.
The wonderful thing about the hotel is the outdoor kitchen. They allowed us to use the refrigerator, all kitchen equipment, as well oils and spices. We ended up staying 8 days total because it was so peaceful.
I would say this is a place for independent travellers though Modesta can tell you anything about Costa Rica and help you book any tours or anything you need. I would suggest renting a car because there is so much to do in such a short drive.
We also had very inexpensive in-room massages, which were the best I've ever had!
