We booked an all inclusive package which included all meals and drinks. The kids spent most of the time at the main pool and the beach and loved having some pizza right at the pool. The sunken bar at the pool mixed good drinks.
The hotel had bikes which were free (or included in our package). It was a great way to get around the huge grounds and explore the whole resort. There was some construction going on as they had not completed the entire resort but we were not affected by it.
The younger kids spent some time at the kids club doing painting and playing video games. I was a little disappointed with the kids club as they did not have much to interest my kids.
There are lots of wild animals around. They came for our pizza at the pool and the tray of room service that we left outside our door was completely devoured, plates and cups were broken. According to the hotel staff, this happens very often.

The Westin Playa Conchal is wonderful! We stayed at the adult only beach resort and were pampered the entire week. The food at all of the restaurants was good. Some meals were superb, others, pass. We went to the rain forest via Eric on the beach. He was very good and the excursion was excellent for ziplining, horseback and hot tub. Be sure and bring your bug spray.
Unforturnately on our 5th day I was bitten beyone my wildest dreams by what we don't know. Could have been bed bugs but they certainly took their time in filling up on my blood. tsk tsk. After going on the internet and my doctor visit I learned this is just part of travel these days to third world countries. All in all including the insect invasion it was a 10+. Westin is doing alot of work to bring this beautiful resort back up to speed and doing it in great time. The entire staff couldn't have been more accommodating.

I was very impressed with the Westin Resort, Playa Conchal. The accommodations, pool, beach, food was all very good! But if you are interested in planning any activities, look for Erik Garcia on the beach right outside the Westin gate. He is not associated with the hotel, but very reputable. He arranged transportation for 30 people and a fishing trip for us. Ask him about a massage on the beach for $30. Believe me, he will save you a lot of money and really nice to work with!!!

My wife and I just returned from the Westin Playa Conchal on Thursday Feb.9/12 after a 2 week stay. The resort was wonderful, clean, well landscaped and the staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. Our Junior Suite was cleaned by the time we returned from breakfast every day (Thank you Wilmar). The meals were well prepared, tasty and the portion sizes in the smaller restaurants were perfect. The buffet gave us great selection at breakfast and the couple of times we had dinner there.
We spent a lot of time around the pool which was large enough to do some serious swimming (or hanging out at the bar if that was your choice). Although I no longer golf, the course looked inviting and challenging. I'll be talking to my travel agent this week as she wanted my opinion. I'll give the Westin 5 stars.
