It was our first night staying in Costa Rica and we needed a cheap location in Liberia. A double bed for the two of us was $20 USD which seemed like a pretty good deal, the room was alright. Small and a bit buggy (not bed bugs, but random other flies etc) There was no a/c but a fan mounted on the wall that seemed to do the trick. There were bars on the windows but I was still a bit uneasy about leaving our passports and money in the room when we weren't there. No one that worked in the hotel or restaurant seemed to speak English but they were all very friendly and seemed eager to understand our broken Spanish, plus the restaurant had an awesome karaoke night going on when we arrived. Nonetheless the next time we stayed in Liberia we decided to fork out the extra money for more comforts and security.
