I read some of the reviews and was a bit put off initially, but I figurred that as it was for 1 night I would chance it.
Firstly, one of the reviewers said that the accomodation was like a prison!
This isn't the case, but I will explain what they meant. The accomodation is comprised of
2 two story blocks with a pathway running through the middle. As you walk down the pathway you have doors to the rooms on each side. That is where the similarity ends.
Another point that I saw in a review was that the reception staff were rude or didnt answer a request somebody made for a room. - There seem to be quite a few reception staff, none of which were rude to me, however some speak almost NO ENGLISH.
I suspect what the other reviewer took for rudeness was actually the person not understanding them. I had difficulty getting them to order me a taxi, and I ended
up writing down the time I wanted it and using gestures to indicate what I wanted.
The rooms are basic, but acceptably furnished and are clean and tidy. The bathroom was a bit tatty, but clean and functional. The beds in my room were very comfortable.
I didnt notice any noise from rooms on either side or above.
Outside there is a nice pool area with recliners, and a hot tub. There is also a open sided restaurant which looks out over the pool area. I had a couple of meals there and the food and drink was reasonably priced.
The breakfast facilities consist of a self service buffet and I found this had plenty of choice and the quality of the food was good.
Other facilities onsite include some tennis courts and a gym. The gym had a good selection of weights and machines, and there were some classes going on there.
The gym area is not open all day so check with reception for the exact times. It seemed to be closed for about 3 hours around midday, so I didn't get to use it.
There is one complimentary Internet PC in the reception area, but it is so painfully slow
that you probably want to give it a miss unless you are desperate.
TIPS
1. There are many ATM machines within 5 minutes walk of the hotel. The nearest is at a bank just across the road. Most ATMs dispense USD and local currency
2. If you are flying out of Liberia airport, but arrive back in town with a lot of time before your flight come back to this hotel instead of suffering the facilities at the airport.
You can use the pool area and facilities for $4.00 USD There are shower facilities
and a changing room outside the gym.
Taxi to the airport costs $15 USD and takes about 10 minutes.
