My fiancee and I spent a week here and there were some good things, and some things we felt could have been better.
The good:
The location of this hotel is great. You have access to the gorgeous Playa Flamingo. You can walk down to the hotel beach, or walk a bit (about 5 mins) to a larger strip of public beach nearby. The rooms are affordable, the pools are nice and there is a bar and restaurant right on the resort. We went to the bar quite a bit during our stay. In-season, it is supposedly very busy. However, we were there in the off-season, so it was considerably quieter.
Playa Flamingo is cool, because it's new and still being developed. The downside to that is that the options within walking distance are limited. There are a few places to eat that are nearby, so you don't always have to eat at the resort, but not a ton. If you have a car (which I'd highly recommend), there are also places nearby that are a short drive.
The bad:
Calling this a "resort" is a bit of a misnomer. It was more of a do-it-yourself place. There is no room service and a lot of the other services aren't really provided unless you ask. (Note: the service at the bar was very good.) The linens were old and tired, and I'm not sure how often the maids replaced them. Basically, you didn't really feel like customer service was a priority here. We also had some money stolen from our room. It was well-hidden, so someone dug for it. The Manager was professional in dealing with us, but he did admit this had happened before.
Overall, we had a decent experience here, but I would hesitate to recommend it to others. The abysmal service could be ignored if the rest of the experience was 5-star..but it wasn't. Not even close.
