“Great views and a swim-up bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

Mixed bag. They're not overly friendly, but this is a very nice place. Our a/c went on the fritz during the night, and they gave us keys to another room - didn't help us move - just gave us the keys. The internet was not reliable, and only available in the lobby. Breakfast and the Monkey Bar were pretty much the two best parts of the place. The rooms are nice enough, but not really worth the $$$$ -- The view of the marina is stunning, and the pools are very, very well maintained...I had laundry done, and it was returned to me wadded up in a plastic bag.

“Stay in the rooms at Flamingo Marina Resort!!! Be aware of some of the Condos that are not part of the resort!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

Flamingo Marina Resort has beautiful Condos and Hotel. Get your reservation through them. Beware of some of the units that are not part of Flamingo Resort, like condo #413. Terrible. In need of updating badly. Window in bathroom broke, Stains on comforter, holes in towel, walls need painting and sheets very old... Just plain dirty. Though I did hear from others that some of the rooms in the rental company are nice. DON'T rent this room. I have been to different places in Mexico and this whole Flamingo area is very safe and fun for teens. Great places to eat, like Golden Shrimp. All the restaurants around the resort are great too. Have fun!!!

“Good Timeshare Trade”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2010

There were so few reviews about this resort I had to enlist the help of other trip advisor reviewers that had previously stayed here to get any information about the resort. We did a timeshare trade through II.

We arrived in the midst of rain (remnants of Hurricane Tomas). We had driven from the San Jose area and GPS was a lifesaver during our entire trip. Security was great at the gate. Upon our arrival the front desk checked us in and asked if I wanted to take advantage of the safe for $3 a day. It was worth it to keep all my valuables secure. We were given a key to Room 401.

Our condo for the week was nice (nothing exceptional) but it was extremely roomy for the two of us. We had 2 bedrooms (each with a queen bed) and a bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was great. We had a fully equipped kitchen (no stove/4 top burner/crockpot, and plenty of cooking supplies) and a TV in the living room. The TV has approx 7 channels in English. There wasn’t a VCR or DVD but we never needed to use one. They do have daily maid service and she did a great job. The balcony was very large and we had a direct view to the ocean and enjoyed sitting out in the mornings and evenings listening to the crashing waves.

The beds were okay but as others have said the linens/sheets are worn and need replacing.

We spent a few afternoons and evenings at the Monkey bar. The food was good and they have happy hour ever day from 5-7 2 for one drinks. Our usual waitress Carmen was exceptional!
We brought a monkey from Auburn and they gave us 2 drinks for free. On Saturday & Sundays everyone was watching on the bar TV’s college and pro football.

The view of the marina was amazing and compared to Tamarindo this resort was very quiet and relaxed. There wasn’t anyone trying to sell you stuff. We came during a great part of the year (early Nov) for after the day of arrival we had sunny weather the entire time we were here. We almost felt like we had this place to ourselves. No crowds and very few kids.

We didn’t use Eco Tours at the resort but instead booked all of our tours through Xplore Costa Rica tours in Tamarindo.

A lot of the restaurants in Playa Flamingo were closed until Thanksgiving but we did eat at Marie’s one night. It was very good. They have a little grocery store near the resort but the much larger Super Mercado’s and Mega Mercado’s have so much more so shop there for supplies.

Having a vehicle during our entire stay made our trip so much better. It gave us the flexibility to really explore Costa Rica. We rented through Thrifty using Vacation City. They delivered/picked up from our hotel in Alajuela near the San Jose airport.

All in all a great vacation and we are so glad that we stayed in the Playa Flamingo area. This is a great base to explore the northwest coast of Costa Rica.

“Beautiful beach front room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2010

I got a beautiful beach front room where I was less than 20 steps from the beach.

The restaurant/pool area offers breathtaking views of the bay and marina. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Fantastic place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2010

My husband and I loved this place. We were there right before the wet season and the resort was almost empty the whole week we were there. We had a beautiful view from our condo and the balcony was large with the same beautiful view. The 4 pools were very nice and service was very good. The condos are well equipped. Only downside was the bed was much harder than we are use to so we both woke up with sore backs everyday.

There is a beach in front of the resort but I suggest making the small walk to Flamingo Beach. Absolutely gorgeous and hardly anyone there.
