This place could be so awesome but the furnishings were of absolutely poor, dilapidated quality... things just seemed in a sad state of affairs and completely neglected. The most kept-up part of the place are the external grounds which are maintained. Internally, the bedspread on my bed had ink stains on it and there were a lot of dead bugs in the bathroom that obviously had not been cleaned up. Paint was faded and it just looks like there is a lot of maintenance that has been neglected in the long-run. What this place COULD be is far from what it is now.
BE AWARE: The owner (an American) only accepts cash payment which is not clearly outlined upon check in and caused us problems upon check out.
While the microbrewery is great, dinner at the hotel was promised at a certain hour only to have it be dragged out two hours later before the dinner plates hit the table. We were starving at that point, and no amount of beer would have tempered our appetites after a long day of hiking.
That being said, however, the view from the lake rooms is stunning. Please also note that when storms come in, the temperature can drop. I spent one night shivering under the very thin blanket - literally with teeth chattering.
