“Beautiful and Peaceful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

This was a picturesque hotel: Palm-tree lined driveway with horse paddocks. Charming verandas with views down to the lake. Green gardens filled with flowers. Even a volcano in the distance! The staff were friendly and prompt. The dining room was gorgeous and the pool was refreshing. It was very quiet when we visited (not many guests) so that added to the peaceful ambiance of this country escape. It felt like our own personal mansion!

As an avid rider, I signed up immediately for the guided horse-back tour around the nearby hills. I was not disappointed! The horses were well cared for and reliable, the views were stunning! My guide was super friendly! He made the ride so enjoyable and even admitted that he loved the T.V. show Heartland - a true horse lover. :) Others in my family signed up for a nearby rafting trip down a river. They had a blast!

If you are looking for a quiet retreat where you can simply relax and enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica, this is the place to be. I am definitely hoping my travel plans take me back to Casa Turire someday!

As an aside, the city of Turrialba is a short drive from the hotel and has many eating options and is also pleasant to stroll around.

“Botique Hotel”

What a wonderful hotel! Great food, privacy and a very friendly and helpful staff made our stay exceptional. The quite surroundings and on.site organic garden for our salads and vegetables gave some added healthy freshness to our meals.

“Beautiful old plantation converted into a hotel, stunning.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

We happened upon Casa Turire heading toward the pacuare river, what a great find. The rain couldnt of been falling any harder when we arrived and didnt stop until after dark, so we couldnt check out the grounds until the next morning. As for the inside of the hotel, very nicely done with a roomy open feel. The ceiling is a good 20+ feet and has a great common area next to the restaurant. The restaurant had good food for our dinner and breakfast, the thing is, once your there your not going somewhere else to eat. The room we had was a standard, very nice and roomy and very clean. In the morning I checked out the soggy grounds, very cool. The lake out back to kayak and the operating farm and garden, a must see. They also do coffee tours in an old deluxe buggie pulled by horses, very romantic, but we had to leave to early to take advantage of the tour. Its a very neat place for a day or two. We were there in the first week of October and they were doing a half price deal on the rooms since no one is in C.R. at this time. This is by far the nicest hotel in the area and is worth checking out.

Room Tip: I dont think any rooms have a/c we didnt need it and the grounds are very quite at night.

“Simply beautiful hotel in a stunning location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011 via mobile

I have nothing but praise for this lovely hotel. It is set in a quite beautiful location, close to the Turrialba volcano, and is small enough to make you feel as though you are a guest at a private country mansion. The rooms are pretty and comfortable, and the communal areas beautifully appointed, particularly the restaurant. There are a couple of good walking trails, affording the opportunity to see many species of butterflies and birds, or you can a two hour horse ride up into the hills.
My highest praise, however, has to be reserved for the standard of service, which was second to none. We arrived on the second day of our holiday, with not much more than the clothes we had travelled in, thanks to Iberia, who had left our luggage in Madrid. We were promised that the cases would arrive that afternoon. We were met at reception at Casa Turrire by a wonderful young lady called Jana, to whom we explained our plight. She spent much of the rest of the afternoon on the phone to Iberia trying to confirm that luggage had indeed arrive and then persuading them to deliver it to us that same day (Iberia were trying to claim that it was too far for them to do that until the next day!). In the meantime Jana arranged for all of our clothes to be laundered within a couple of hours and on a complimentary basis. This was customer service of the very highest quality, and delivered with a smile. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel again. Incidentally, Iberia finally delivered our cases - thanks to Jana's persistence and insistence - in the early hours of the following morning.

“Lovely hotel....food could it better...”

Overall our experience was very nice and I would recommend the hotel to friends. This was our first visit to the central valley region of Costa Rica and we found this area to be very beautiful.... lots of farmland and very lush and green. We stayed 2 nights at Casa Turire and the location was the perfect haft way point to our final destination on the Carribean Coast. The rooms were clean and very nice, comfortable bed, cable TV and a patio. We enjoyed the lake, the farm, the animals and the organic garden on the property as well as the hiking trails and pool.. Beautiful butterflies also grace the property.
Our only complaint was the food. Breakfast was included in our rate was very good and so was the service. Dinner on the other hand was not so good. We ate at the restaurant on our first night and we were very disappointed. Our fish was overcooked, dry and flavorless. We expected more given the prices of the meals are in the $25 plus range....Casa Turire is by far one of the best hotels in the area and we recommend it. We do suggest, however, you go into town for dinner.
