“A very convenient, beautiful, and conformable lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2012

Very close to the airport, Poas Volcano Park, and the La Paz waterfall. There is a very nice French Restaurant around the corner, another great place to have a dinner in addition to the lodge. The views are beautiful. Hiking the cloud forest trails is a fun thing to do while you are there. You may want to stay there for at least two nights so that you have enough time to enjoy. The room is neat and the bed is comfortable. Food is great. In addition to the game stations, there is a large entertainment room there. You can watch TV/movies on the white wall (a cool big screen) through a projector. It is a good place to spend the evening with kids.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2012

We stayed in late April our last night at Poas Volcano Lodge. Fantastic views, outstanding accommodations and service, delicious food, great bedding, comfortable bed, elegant yet inviting public areas..and more. We loved the whole experience! We loved Costa Rica..so much to see! Poas Volcano Lodge did not disappoint!

Room Tip: The drive up to the lodge can be tricky with the fog..but well worth the trip!

“Exceptional Lodge in Serene Natural Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2012

Poas Volcano Lodge was our third destination, and the nicest hotel, during our first visit to Costa Rica in January. What a beautiful place. The hotel is a contemporary fieldstone and timber-frame structure situated in serenely beautiful rolling hills above 6,000 feet. It is on the grounds of a dairy farm and is surrounded by views of the lush natural landscape. The hotel is about 15 minutes from Poas Volcano park at an elevation above 8,000 feet and a must see, and 5 minutes from the town of Poacito with shops, supermarket, gas station and El Charasco, a nice, affordable, restaurant with excellent food. We visited the Doka Coffee plantation about 30 – 45 minutes away where we purchased some excellent Costa Rican coffee to take home. The temperature in January ranged from about 40F to 75F and we were glad we brought long pants and jackets with us. We stayed in the junior suite. It was a little larger than the standard room, but smaller, and less expensive, than the rooms located in the main building. The room was clean with an en-suite bathroom and ample hot water. It was on the small side but more than ample for the amount of time we stayed in the room.

The main building of the lodge is elegant coziness with a comfortable great room and dining room heated by small woodstoves. The lodge has about 12 rooms for guests. It never felt crowded but was very conducive to meeting fellow travelers and getting to know the warm and very friendly and helpful staff. The dining room had about 7 tables surrounded by glass walls that provided views of the mountains and wildlife. Breakfast consisted of a variety of hot options, including “typicale” Costa Rican (Tico) cuisine that was prepared in the kitchen, and cold cereals, fruit and juices offered buffet style. Dinner at the lodge was similarly very good and moderately priced. In the evening we would lounge in the great room in the main building reading or sending emails using the hotels wifi network.

Our stay at Poas Volcano Lodge was an option we added to our trip and we were very glad we did. We look forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: The standard or junior suite rooms are near the main building and less expensive. The main hotel bu...

“Green,Beautiful and Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2012

Took me just 47 minutes from the Juan Santamaria Intl airport to reach the Lodge, even if it is a short time I was in a totally different world., a green one!
The area is surrounded by beautiful green areas, some are pure forest some are dedicated to farming, mainly cows and strawberries fields.

The room I stayed (Master) was beautiful and the view from my terrace was amazing. The food was delicious (I found the produce their own butter, jam, bread and even the granola)

And the most important is that the lodge is located just a few kilometers from the Poas Volcano national park.
If you are thinking about visit and stay around the Poas Volcano for sure this is a very good option.

Room Tip: The view from master room #2 was amazing.

“Stunning, relaxing, hospitable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2012

I booked this hotel on a suggestion from a colleague who used to live in Costa Rica. We landed in San Jose at 8pm, picked up our rental car (with GPS) and drove to Poas. We were settled in by 10pm. This location worked well for us because we traveled farther north to Guanacaste the next morning.

The staff and owners were hospitable. We checked in and hadn't eaten dinner. The receptionist said the kitchen was closed but she's managed to get us cheese sandwiches. The room was adorable and the shower had great water pressure. The grounds and architecture was stunning. Breakfast was made to order and it was delicious (and included in the price).

Great find!
