We just got back from our wonderful vacation in Costa Rica. One of the main reasons it was so fantastic is the gracious people that live and work in this beautiful country. The owners of this establishment exemplifies this "open arms welcome" attitude that you receive when you enter any business here. Melania took care of our every need from letting us wash our clothes after a day of white water rafting to suggesting great restaurants. She is very knowledgeable of the area and all it has to offer. They have a great location right across the street from a large grocery store and near many delicious restaurants. The hotel has a wonderful view of the volcano and is a short distance to town and many attractions like the waterfall and lake. After a day of sightseeing, shopping and hiking around this hotel was a wonderfully peaceful escape to rest and recoup. The made to order breakfast we had every morning at the restaurant next door was very good and was included in our room price. You had a selection from American favorites as well as traditional Costa Rican breakfast foods. I would definitely recommend this hotel and if we are ever so lucky to visit this beautiful part of the country again we will be staying with Melania. Thanks again, Mary.

A bit away from the main street (but closer to The volcano and The springs)

we have stayed at vista del cerro several times now and this review is based on the consistent level of service received every time. the location of the hotel puts you nearly halfway between the town of la fortuna and arenal volcano and the various properties with hotsprings. it can be a little noisy with trafic at times but it isn't ever bad. the rooms are large and basic but are spotlessly clean with air conditioning and cable tv. each room has an unobstructed view of the volcano, top to bottom and there is a pool and garden on site populated by hummingbirds and other types as well. breakfast is included at the small outdoor restaurant next door, which i recommend for dinner as well. melania and her family do an excellent job of running this small hotel and are very helpful with local activities and attractions! there is a large grocery store immediately across the street for everything from flip flops to beer and beer coolers. it is also one of the closest hotels to la fortuna falls, there is a shortcut across the street next to the supermarket to the falls and is about a 10 minute drive or 30 minute walk.

This is our second time staying at vista del cerro and this time was as great as the first ! The owners melania and hilberto were so helpful and friendly. We booked all our tours through melania and saved a ton of money! Hilberto even drove us to skytrek and stayed there the entire 2 hours while we did the tour! The meals at the soda next store are typical costa rican food and oscar is a great cook. How miss his breakfast. The rooms are clean and spacious with great views all facing arenal volcano! A/c, wifi, breakfast,free long distance phone calls taxes are all included in the price which isnt always the case in costa rica . We have nothing but positives to rave about and as soon as we can we will be returning to our familia at vista del cerro! pura vida
