it is just one block of the main road, but really quiet. the room and bathroom were really clean. we had a fridge, coffeemaker, ac and tv and wifi in the room. on the balcony was enough space to sit with the children (3 and 5 years old) and playing games. the pool was good sized and clean. the breakfast in the nearby restaurant is nothing special but good.

Located just a couple of blocks from the main town square, yet nestled in a residential neighborhood. An easy walk to many nice restaurant. I felt safe and enjoyed both the excellent view of the Arenal Volcano and the sound of water rushing in the nearby river.

The pool is pleasant, the place is clean all around, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We paid extra for an upstairs room with a straight on view of the volcano -- which was worth it during the few hours, including one awesome sunset, when the sky's were clear.

We stayed for a couple of nights in early December and found the budget room that we booked to be spacious and with a TV and fridge as well as having an outdoor seating area with a couple of chairs and a table. The room was nice enough, quite basic but clean, and the people that ran the place were friendly and helpful. The breakfast that was included in the rate was big, you have to walk to a seperate place to have it but it's not far. The location of the hotel was just right for us, on the outskirts of town so everything is easily within walking distance but you aren't disturbed by any noise or in a part that is too busy. It was right next to a pretty river although we didn't get a chance to go for a walk along it.

We had a nice stay at the Monte Real. We arrived on a rainy, cloudy day, so we didn't know until the next day that our room had a beautiful view of the volcano. The hotel is right in town and easily within walking distance of everything in the nice little town of La Fortuna.

The hotel appears to be family run and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds were very well-kept and the pool area was a nice addition. There was a small river running right by the hotel, which provided a nice, constant, relaxing sound.

We opted for an upgrade on the room to get A/C and we were glad we did. The room was simple, but clean and functional. It even had a small refrigerator, which we found a nice thing to have. We had a small deck with a direct view of the volcano. We did have a small problem with teeny-tiny ants, which we later found was very common in Costa Rica and not unique to this hotel.

Breakfast is included in the rate, but you have to walk about a block to the restaurant. There is a choice of 3 breakfasts - various combinations of rice & beans, eggs, toast, and fruit with coffee and juice. All were quite tasty.

This hotel is a great find for a good price and I would definitely suggest it for others wanting to stay in La Fortuna.
