“Great Hotel--Here is help driving there”

We love the hotel and find their service exceptional. A great place for beginning or ending a trip to Costa Rica. We were a little frustrated trying to drive from the airport to the hotel, using the printed instructions on the hotel web site:

" The best way to get to the hotel is from the SJO Airport. Once you are on the avenue right in front of the terminal, look for the Gas Station "Servicentro El Coco" if this one is located on your right hand side, please keep going and take the next exit (it will be on your right hand side too, by ADS offices) continue and pass next to the factories Cinta Azul and Bimbo, then make a left on the following cross, keep straight and after two miles you will find the hotel on your right side."

I would add the following clarifications:
1. The avenue in front of the airport is an east-west road with a hairpin U turn at the west end. The east end of the avenue accesses the freeway--toward San Jose. The road that one uses to pick up and drop off passengers leaves and enters the eastbound side of this avenue.
2. The El Coco gas station is the only gas station on this avenue, but the sign is poorly marked. It is convenient for gassing up rental cars just prior to return. The gas station sits at a T intersection where a major north-south access road ends by joining the airport avenue. This north-south access road is not the road to the hotel.
3. Proceeding west from the gas station on the airport avenue (towards the hairpin U turn) one block past the gas station turn right onto the road toward the hotel. From this point the road bends first left, then left again, then right, then passes the Cinta Azul and Bimbo factories, and at 2.0 Km reaches a T intersection.
4. At the T intersection turn left and go 3.7 Km to find the hotel on the right (total 5.7 Km from airport avenue).

“Excellent first stop”

Shuttle from airport was quick and efficient (and an excellent introduction to Costa Rican driving). The staff were friendly and helpful. They even managed to produce two excellent late meals of local fare right at restaurant closing time. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. After a hot local breakfast, the shuttle driver took us to the rental car agency near the airport for the continuation of our journey. I would definitely stay at this family run property again.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This hotel had everything I needed and more. Initially I was looking for a nearby airport hotel, had stayed at the Holiday Inn Express before and was unsatisfied. The driver, Joshua, picked me up from the airport in under 5 minutes. When I arrived, the treatment was very personalized and unassuming. The hospitality was like no other place I've stayed at in Costa Rica, and I've traveled there four times. The grounds were immaculately kept for a resort-like setting. Towards the end of my trip, I decided to stay there an extra few days and the family/staff were helpful in every way. I learned that this hotel has been family-run for over 10 years, and it showed in their professionalism, helpfulness, and how well-connected they are with local merchants, tour operators, and authorities. I sincerely recommend them very highly.

“Great jumping off point”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Hotel Robledal was our choice for a first night on this trip to Costa Rica. Our arrival was late night and the shuttle was quite prompt in picking us up and transporting us to the hotel. The room was quite adequate and the beds comfortable. The entire property was emasculate and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. As this was just a quick over-night we didn't really have much chance to really experience the property but for the short time we were there I was impressed and would definitely stay again.
