We stayed in this hotel for one night after arriving from Miami. The Holiday Inn Express has a free shuttle from the airport so you do not have to pay for a taxi. Check-in was pretty easy and fast. We were given a room on the first floor. The room was adequate. It had two double beds. There is a safe in the wall next to the door. The bathroom was of adequate size. The water pressure in the bathtub was low. There is not a refrigerator in the room. There is also a lack of available plugs to plug in your electronic equipment. There is one in the bathroom and one in a lamp. Hotels need to realize that people travel with a lot of electronics such as laptop computers, ipods, ipads, cell phones, kindles, etc and these all need to be plugged in and charged. The room had a flat screen TV and a desk. There was a wardrobe in the corner. Across the street is a Denny's restaurant. All in all, this is an OK place to stay for one night when arriving late at the airort. There are a couple of car rental places down the street. They also serve breakfast in the mornings.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Airport location on the night of our arrival and the night before we returned home. Our flights to Costa Rica were delayed by weather, and we were dead tired when we got there, so the convenience of the hotel and the nice restaurant right across the street were wonderful. An added bonus was that the rental car agency was within walking distance of the hotel.The hotel was spotless and our room quiet and comfortable. Yes, check in was slow, but not excessively so. The hotel had a very cordial staff and a really nice lounge area to sit and read or play cards.The continental breakfast was very good, and we were able to get on our way early the next day. The hotel is right on the highway leading to the Arenal volcano area, which saved us a lot of time. We had a long, arduous drive the day before we left, and it was nice to be close to the airport. The hotel let us store our winter coats in the check room during the week we were gone so we did not have to lug them around in the small car. My e-mail account was hacked after using the hotel computer, so my advice would be to use the WiFi service, which was strong, on your personal device for e-mail.

Check-in was very slow (20 min per person). When people jumped the line, it was even worse to stand there and wait. They did has 2 people working the desk. International phone calls are free, Domestic calls cost.

Room was standard HI Express. The bed was extremely firm, too much so for my preference. The A/C is either on or off. If on, it runs all the time and dries the room out. Not my preference.

It is just a few minutes to/form the airport by their free every 10 minute shuttle. Drivers were very polite and prefessional. They had at least 2 shuttles running during Monday AM.

There is a Denny's, Rotisserie Chicken place and Casino Bar right across the street. I saw a flyer for a steakhouse, but did not see it.

You can pay your Costa Rica Depature Tax at this hotel for a $4pp Service Charge. We did that rather than see how long the line was at the airport. Thought is was a good value for the time maybe spent at the airport.

We booked this place as a place to sleep the night before heading home to Colorado via SJ International. Well... It provided us with a convenient place to stay, but the convenient location is a plus and a minus.

You can get to the airport quickly via shuttle no problem, but the hotel is (literally) across the street from the beginning of the takeoff runway. So if convenient location is your #1 priority, this is it. If a solid night's sleep is your priority, a little further away might be a good choice. In any case, it served its purpose. Don't expect a great night's sleep, but if you get it, BONUS!

I saw a weird review about "great location away from downtown but close enough to visit". If your destination isn't the airport, you have no reason to stay here, so don't be fooled.
