Convenient shuttle service to/from airport. Fast friendly check in/out. Beautiful modern room and bathroom. Great view. Quite setting. Very good breakfast included. Excellent dinner. Excellent and friendly service. Business office. Great in every way.

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and efficient. Stayed there in January, for three days. The breakfast was excellent, and the two dinners were also quite good. We had been put in one of the older rooms. (pre renovation) and this was just OK. The toilet was another story. Upon complaining to the owner, he readily moved us to one of the renovated rooms which was more modern and the bathroom was excellent. If you are making a reservation i would suggest that you ask for one of the renovated rooms. All the rooms are apparently supposed to be renovated over the next year. There are also some villas on the property which are great, but cost a lot more. I would stay again, no problem.

I was staying at the hotel 3 years ago and the food was of good quality fruit at breakfast, the type of meat we had at dinner was very good. But we were at the hotel a week ago and was quite the opposite. The fruit at breakfast was of very poor quality for the pineapples had a bitter taste and also the decoration of the bowl of fruit is the same 3 years ago and the dinner was a bad experince because the meat had seemed bad sticky taste. The truth we are very disillusioned because we thought it was our favorite place in Costa Rica. The hotel is very nice your decor is very nice but the food is of very poor quality. The truth I do not know if the hotel buy cheap food and poor quality for more money.

We stayed at Buena Vista between December 27 and December 31 2011. It was our second visit that year, Both were spur of the moment decisions. This trip we were staying on Golfo Dulce and decided to fly into SJO a day before our flight to make life easier for Barbara's 89-year old mother. We were met at SJO by David in a new minibus and he loaded up the twelve bags and three passengers. He avoided congestion through the town. We stayed in Villa #1, spacious, airy and with great views across the valley. Dinner was good. We decided we wanted to stay longer so changed our flights and extended our stay. Barbara took a look at the refurbished rooms in the main hotel and was duly impressed. The souvenir shop was being refurbished when we visited in February. It has an excellent choice of good quality, locally-made products. The cost compares favorably with shops at the main attractions in the area. Breakfast is fresh fruit and coffee plus whatever extras you want. The staff are fantastic, from Lee, the Owner's son, through to the maids. David, Darwin and Coco are brothers and extremely warm and accommodating. They, Christian and Harlem all speak excellent English. They are only too pleased to be of assistance and are pleased to converse. Harlem is mapping birds that visit the property - he makes an excellent slightly dirty vodka martini. We booked two local tours, one to the Poas Volcano and La Paz waterfalls and one to Grecia and the surrounding area. Coco drove both days, he is informative, patient with old ladies and an excellent driver. Both tours were adapted to our needs and used one of the hotel's minibuses. I have no hestitation in recommending this hotel as a one night stopover coming into or out of San Jose or as a base from which to tour the beautiful surrounding countryside.
