We had a meeting a Tuskegee University, so the Kellogg was suggested as convenient. We would have been better off staying in nearby Auburn, and driving the 15 miles. The Kellogg bills itself as a full service hotel, but their and my opinion of full service differ greatly. There was only 1 desk clerk checking in, so we waited in a line. She was quite nice, and it went smoothly, however more help was clearly needed. We needed to print boarding passes for our flight the next day. Other recent hotel stays have included a complimentary business center (as well as a lower room price), so I was shocked to see a fee for printing. It was a small fee, and would save me time at the airport, so I opted for it. I could not get the fee to go through, so I went to the front desk for help. I was told to call the 800 number, and the clerk walked away. I could not find the number, so I had to trek through the airport to the ticketing area. The room itself was ok, nothing special, with paper thin walls. Temperature was difficult to adjust. the hallway was like a sauna, with heat blasting, on a 40 degree evening. the grout in the bathroom was in dire need of tilex, or a steam cleaning. The restaurant was a disaster. Again, very friendly staff, but i would prefer competent. We sat for quite a while before our dinner order was taken, although the place was nearly empty. We specified that we wanted a plain cheeseburger, and opted to share. It came with unwanted toppings, and took a long time to correct (all that was needed was to replace the top bun). The fries were ice cold due to the wait. Ketchup that was requested when the meal was served incorrectly, was brought in bowls when we were finshed with the meal. other nearby tables had the familiar bottles, so i don't know why the bowls were brought. Drinks were not refilled in a timely manner, and since Pepsi was sitting in a pitcher, it was flat. It is plainly stated that a 15% service charge was added, but it was not earned. There are few choices nearby for meals in the economically depressed surrounding town, so you are at their mercy. Most hotels I have visited recently have included a microwave and frige in the room, (for less money), so I could have brought something from the grocery in Auburn. I wish i had broght something for breakfast. i called for room service and was put on hold for 20 minutes. I went down to the restaurant, to place a to go order, and saw the same server :(. I asked another server to take the order and he seemed confused by my request. I wanted 2 orders of 2 eggs listed on the menu and website as $1.50 each, plus 2 orders of bacon $1.99 each, and 2 glasses of juice. $1.25 each. I was told they only had a buffet, which was more than $10 per person. by this time, we would have been late for a meeting, nor did we want a buffett, even without the expensive price. We left angry and hungry. If I find the need to visit Tuskegee again, I will commute from Auburn. While I appreciate the historic significance of the area, i did not appreciate being charged a non-disclosed "historic fee", even though it was only $2. it justed added insult to injury.
