No real complaints here. I stayed here after the hotel we originally picked (Hampton Inn Tuscaloosa-East) was 10miles away. We called the previous hotel as we had a room there for $68 and explained our situation about the location, and surprisingly was able to move us to this Hampton when we saw it's location. We are Hilton Gold VIP's and we arrived at the hotel to check-in and had everything ready for us. We were in room 317 which was clean and comfortable, however was next to the elevator and noisy, but they were doing us a favor so we were not complaining. The hotel is extremely convenient for University of Alabama and would stay here again, if in Tuscaloosa.

I traveled to Tuscaloosa as part of a research project run by the University of Alabama. This is my second trip there and they choose the hotel. The Hampton Inn was execellent in all the above mentioned categories. The location was minutes away from where my meetings were held, and also from any other shops and restaurants I wanted to see in my hours off. I hate a "wimpy" shower and they offer an adjustable WaterPik showerhead. The only problem was that it's almost up on the ceiling so I had to climb on the toilet to adjust it. The complimentary breakfasts were terrific with different buffet options every day, including waffles, bagels, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, cereals, juices, yogurts, etc. every morning. The cookies and milk every evening and the coffees and tea all day were also a nice treat. I had not been aware of how nice Hampton Inns are until this stay. I will look for them in the future. They had a roomy desk area in the room and computers in the lobby if I needed one. Everyone was very courteous and helpful. The last time I went, they chose the Capstone, which was nice too, but the complementary breakfasts made the difference.

Tip:
If you need a nice, quick place to eat or carry out, try Newk's. It's an upscale cafe and you order at the counter and everything is brought to your table. Great selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, personal pizzas, drinks, etc. with a very creative menu. Kind of like Panera, but better. Great if you are on your own. I ate there on both of my trips there, so now I am a regular.

Wow! Beds were extra comfy, large room, great breakfast, wonderful front desk (Thanks Morgan) shower head up high (big extra for this 5'8" gal). The only thing negative was the coffee in the room, but they have free coffee in the lobby. A LARGE group of us were there for basketball camp and this place was perfect for some of us parents.

The staff at this Hampton Inn were exceptionally friendly, helpful and responsive. The hotel is an older property but has been nicely updated and maintained. The lobby and breakfast area were spacious and welcoming. The pool area appeared well-maintained. Our room was handicap accessible and located on the first floor. It was nicely furnished and the king size bed was comfortable. The TV was older and was not a flat screen TV. The bathroom was clean and the vanity area was fairly well lit. The carpet was clean but the staff need to vacuum more thoroughly in areas that aren't readily accessible, such as between the desk and bed in our room. The hotel is a short distance from the university campus. There was no microwave or mini-refrigerator. The breakfast had both hot and cold items and had a good selection. Overall, this hotel is a great value for a short stay in Tuscaloosa.
