Conveniently located in a Super Wal Mart parking lot - sketchy but OK - that’s the Super 8 in Talladega and unfortunately Talladega options and alternatives at this price point are limited. I did notice there was a Holiday Inn Express under construction next door. Wall construction is flimsy so there is noise from above and three sides. Best bet is probably the 2nd floor on the end. Air conditioners were exceptionally noisy and loaded with that musty “dirty filter” smell. Linens and towels were thread bear but clean and the mattress was good. Room itself is OK, however odor was right on the edge of funky and I noted the maid really hosed the room down with “smell good” to take the edge off. Front desk folks were far from friendly and the breakfast offered was very basic. I couldn’t even work myself up to go for it despite being free. Coffee was good. In short, a good bed and bath, use earplugs then get in and out fast.

The reason I titled this 'Average - Unfortunaley' is because this is about what an 'average' Super 8 is like these days...and that is not necessarily a good thing.
At $66.08 (including tax) that is about average also.
This is definitely not the worst Super 8 I have stayed in and actually the bed slept pretty good. It was fairly 'cleanish' and did have a few 'extras' ie: microwave & fridge.
The 'breakfast' was basically coffee and cereal.
There is brand new Holiday Inn Express going up right next to this and come the new year (2009) I daresay that would be the place to stay.
I'm sure this motel would be acceptable to many types of travellers and definitely not to many others.

The Super 8 in Talladega AL was an OK value for the price. We paid $54.88 (including tax). As far as Super 8s go this was probably at least average. I agree with another review that said the walls weren't very sound proof.
The breakfast area was quite small but that was all the room they needed for what they provided.
From the pictures I've seen on the internet they must have some nicer rooms than the ones we had. Shame about that...I may have been able to write something more complimentary if I had a better room...
Also, the owner and his wife have a minimal grasp of English at best. Communicating can be a bit of a chore with a lot of misunderstanding on both parts and a lot of repeating sentences to make oneself understood.
Wouldn't recommend it but hey it was a cheap room with a bed.
