“is Mr. Marriott Jr leaving there ?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

You should ask yourself this question because everything is excellent here.... It’s like they are expecting a committee of inspectors, its too berfect .
I got 2BR with 2 bath rooms nice woody decoration washing machine dry machine and kitchen, welcome fruits and chocolate, staff are very kind and helpful offering help all the time, when you are going out they ask you if you want a taxi I was thinking that they will offer me the hotel car which is expensive but they don’t, there 1st suggestion was the normal taxi, front disc are very helpful if you are looking for address they will help you to find it, lift are secured with room card lock , you can’t miss “Lee” the very helpful person in the lobby in charge of concierge he has a magnificent memory to remember guests and welcoming them with their names from there very 1st night in the hotel.
Housekeeping is good and, breakfast is also nice it has little thing from everything, and it’s easy to find taxi especially with the help of the people in the concierge.

“A bloody fantastic Shanghai base for a family!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Arrival

Our bags were whisked away as soon as they hit the kerb. The greeting at reception was lovely, professional and warm. But we really loved Lee the concierge/bell hop. Although we only stayed two nights, he greeted me with a beaming "Hello Mr Nick!" ever time he saw me he also wrote down the address of a great market (cheap bags, electronics and software) in Chinese for a cab driver.

The room

We went for a 3 bedroom suite and it was massive. God help whoever has to clean this place! Lovely full kitchen and laundry, stunning views of the city from 3 angles and wonderful beds sent from heaven. The bathrooms were immaculate and beautiful.

The Verdict

We loved our stay here and would return here in heart beat. We travelled by taxi everywhere and found it accessible, fast and cheap. A few quid to go most places.

“Perfect Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

We stayed here for 4 days recently and LOVED IT! The location was perfect as it was close to the subway, shopping and restaurants. The price for the hotel is GREAT and much cheaper than staying on the other side of the river!!!
The hotel was very clean and the rooms are HUGE and well-appointed. 4 of us travelled including 2 children (11yrs old). We stayed in a 2 bedroom and had more room than we needed. The kitchen and laundry room were a great bonus! We had breakfast at the hotel which was quite good and ordered room service twice. The Special Fried rice and the noodle soup were yummy! My kids loved the pool which was clean and relatively warm.
Going to sites such as the Aquarium or Science Centre (which were very cool and a lot of fun) were not a problem on the subway as the subway entrance was right by the hotel. We also took tours with Grayline which, since VERY few speak English, was perfect for us. There is a grocery store around the corner from the hotel and a GREAT, CHEAP noodle house kitty-corner from the Subway restaurant that we went to often.
Definitely would stay here again if I go back!

Room Tip: A high floor gives you a spectacular view of Shanghai!

“Wow........lovely apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

I only stayed here for one night at the end of my Chinese vacation and really don't know why I chose this apartment hotel.....what a waste for a single traveller for one night! The apartment was beautiful and the location although a little out of the way was straight across the road from a metro station on Line 4 so that presented no problem whatsoever. There are lots of shops and restaurants around to suit most tastes, although most were Western.
The hotel was smashing and I could not fault it. Reception was extremely helpful and everyone's English was perfect. I think this was a case of you get what you pay for.
Check in was smooth and faultless and I was shown to my room by the admissions clerk.
The apartment is very modern and had a well stocked and fully equipped kitchen. Unless you were staying here for a long time though I am not too sure how often you would use it. It is so cheap to eat out. The bathroom and toiletries were first class and the room had a bath and separate shower. The bedroom was lovely with its own TV. The bed was quite high with lots of pillows to choose from. Nice bed linen too. Lounge was nice and as I joined the loyalty scheme got free in room wi fi. The doorman arranged my taxi and they held on to my suitcase without a hitch.
My only minor niggle was that I could not understand why I could not get any hot water in the bathroom and shower. To me it seemed that the taps/indicators were the wrong way round. Once I sussed this out though all was fine! I would stay here again, but obviously if I was staying long enough to make better use of the facilities.

“Great space and amenities if you need space, good location, a/c ok but somewhat lacking, no English translation for washer, staf”

We needed space and this hotel delivered. But that's as far as it went-great grocer a block away at bottom of dept store but didn't know until end of stay, a/c not great in 100+ degree weather, washer had no English translation and was not intuitive to figure out AND no one c/translate for us at hotel incl engineering, c/not get staff to understand we needed dishwasher detergent either-the non English speaking was a barrier to a superior stay. Food was not good either.
