Good quality busy Crowne Plaza with friendly staff. The location is a bit remote and unless you have business locally or at Fudan University there nothing interesting around the local area. The hotel bar was empty after happy hour. With no local competition, with a little effort by management and staff, it could be a fun place in the evening. Only 3 lifts therefore be prepared to wait during peak times.

Second visit to this hotel which I still rate highly. The pluses are the rooms,clean and well equipped and the very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is very good particularly if you can get it included in your room rate and all the other meals including a formal chinese Banquet I have had in the hotel are excellent. The health club is well equipped. The hotel is very close to Fudan University, but a fair taxi ride from the centre, however taxis are really cheap so this isn't really a problem and the metro is only 10 minutes walk away. Downside- well the bar is quite expensive and soul less after happy hour, food prices can also be very steep and coffee service at breakfast could be intermittent. There can be long waits for the lifts at peak hours. Would definitely stay here again but not such a good bargain as last time.

Upscale "business-type" hotel with very nice rooms and a smiling & helpful staff. TERRIFIC buffet for both the breakfasts and the one dinner buffet we enjoyed - excellent variety of many stations, from Asian to American-style meat carving to French cheese & baguette. Pleasant patio seating too- I stepped outside for a cigarette and was brought a beautiful tray of tea without even asking for one!
As other reviewers have mentioned, this hotel is best-suited for travelers in Shanghai for the nice university across the street or business in the area. However, for a tourist, it felt we spent too much time on the tour bus fighting traffic on the busy freeways.

This Crowne Plaza hotel, part of the Holiday Inn chain, is right across the street from the famous Fudan University. So if you have business there, it is a good choice; otherwise, it is a bit far from the city, and in b etween two metro stations, each of which is more than 1 km away. The European staff is friendly and helpful, the Chinese staff has difficulties speaking English. So it happens that, unlike promised in the brochure you find in your room, Internet at the bar is not free, and the pool requires a swim cap, which I found out the hard. Breakfat was not included in my rate, which made the whole thing a bit pricy for China.
