We happened upon this hotel by accident when we couldn't find the hotel we wanted. The location was great, right on the pedestrian East Nanjing Road, very close to Line 2 metro station. However, there are other hotels that are closer to the Bund that are much better. I know this because I've stayed in one right beside the Bund in a previous trip. This hotel is inside a department store & if you didn't know where the opening of the hotel is you can miss it. It wasn't marked well. Also the front office staff were not friendly although they spoke a little English.
We asked for an extra bed in a standard 2 bed room. They sent it up very fast, but all beds were super hard. Our room had a wide balcony which we couldn't get onto unless we climbed through a small window. We could look down on the pedestrian street to see the night activities, but they lasted for a good while that we could hear them in our room when we went to sleep. The walls were thin that we could hear the rustling of the metro station every time it took off.
Overall, the room was dirty i.e. dusty windowsill, stained carpet, dirty bathroom/tub, I didn't want to take a shower & decided to wait for a better place when we left the next morning. The free breakfast coupons were only for 2 people, so our friend paid 25 RMB, which wasn't worth it. The fruit was old & starting to look like it was becoming sour/rotten.
Despite the location, I would never stay in this hotel again & cannot recommend it to anyone. I know that by the Bund or if you go one road away from this pedestrian road you can find other hotels that are friendly, cleaner, & with better service.
