The location of this hotel is good as it is an easy walk to the Bund or a cheap taxi ride to most areas. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. However the facilities definitely left much to be desired. We had paid for an upgraded room which I would not recommend doing for the price paid. Whilst the room itself was fine and of a good size, it was not a non-smoking room as requested, nor was it particularly clean. The carpet was disgusting and very badly stained - in desperate need of steam cleaning, not just vacuuming. As has been previously stated, the views of the Bund have been blocked by newer buildings, although there is still an interesting view from the floor to ceiling windows.
The hotel seems to be in the process of being renovated, but there was no sign of any work in progress and it looked as if work had stopped a good while ago, though I could be wrong. The swimming pool was closed, the main reception area closed off and the rooftop bar was also closed. There was also no wi-fi, so we had to pay to use the business centre to connect to the internet.

First of all I would like to say thank you for everybody for all your helpful informations, we just got back from Shanghai, we stayed at this hotel, for the price this is an ok hotel, because of its location. But yes the carpets are dirty, the seats in the restaurant are dirty too, we had breakfast there one morning, it was not so bad, but we didn`t eat there again. You won`t feel like spoiled by the hotel staff, they just there doing their job. All in all, I can`t complain that`s what we`ve got for the price, but I probably wouldn`t stay there again.

Three friends and I, stayed here for 3 nights before heading on a cruise with Ocean Princess. Rooms were really nice, but the walls were really thin you can hear the tv, shower, toilet flushes and voices next door. Breakfast was yummy alot of choices. We had dinner once in the hotel restaurant, food was nice. There is a huge market, 15mins walk from hotel and and 30min walk to China's premier shopping Nanjing Road, you need to catch a cab to Yuyuan Markets.

Place was ok 10-15minutes walk to the bund, stayed 3 nights there, Its just that they are now ranovating the hotel so 26th. floor is unaccessible, can't see the view of the bund. Too far away to walk from the MTR system. Not using the main entrance, the lobby is at the side entrance now. Front counter personnel was average and monotonous as the rest of the chinese staff eveywhere, room was reasonable, got a really excellent deal from hotelclub, so no complains ! Air-cond was a bit underpower but still ok and the weather was very hot! There was a Quik Mart to buy water and titbits during our stay, very convenient, do not buy from the 'small shop vendor' on the same row (which is nearer) just beside the hotel, slaughter you with higher price... beware !
