What character - this place has it literally bursting out of the floorboards. From the staff dressed in top and tails, to the HUUUGE comfortable rooms, to the long and errie, yet beautiful, corridors, to the open forums with indoor lamposts - this hotel is full of character! You don't know whether to expect the viceroy of Shanghai or Jack Nicholson to come running round the corner! We loved this place. Service was exceptional with English speaking staff always on hand. Only negatives were that breakfast was not included and there was no Wifi in the room.

Great location right on the bund. Kind and accommodating staff – they remembered our breakfast orders after a few days into our stay. For such an old and historic building it’s been kept up very well. We booked through expedia but checked in late and were upgraded to the business suite (king bed, hbo, huge room with living room and 5 balconies).

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Astor House Hotel. The location was great so close to the Bund, a very nice stroll home at the end of a busy day sight seeing. The room had everything you could need and had so much character, it felt like I was in a movie, I loved it. I found the staff very helpful and breakfast was great, particularly the surroundings.
