i booked a 5-night stay at this hotel thru www.directrooms.com, 3 months ahead of my trip. 4 days before my scheduled flight, i received a call from directrooms and the person said that my booking with this hotel has been cancelled due to overbooking. However, they dont have info as to why this happened. After 3 days of solid argument with the hotel and directrooms, they didnt do anything to help. Directrooms said its beyond their control and the hotel said that the goverment has booked the whole hotel for the World Expo. In the end, on the day of my departure, i booked another room in another hotel. No words can descbribe my disappointment! even though i didnt stay in this hotel, all i can say is that when the staff dont entertain you for pre-service, DONT hope for the during-and-after service to be of a standard!

Usually stay at the Sofitel Hyland but fully booked. Found the Panorama was aslo on the Accor website. Arrived after dark and initial ractions were not very positive. Reception shold be cleared of all the clutter and the suite was looking very tired with dated furniture and decoration. However, what a surprise when I opened the curtains. I saw the bund, river and the Pudong side. Simply breathtaking and must be the best view from any hotel room in Shanghai. If I had been paying for the view rather than the suite it would have cost a fortune.

Yes the bathroom had some mould,BUT,the room was clean and fresh! We and our friends,6 others in 3 other rooms, had no trouble with the reception staff and their command of English! They were always most helpful and if not sure asked for assistance from another staff member. I find it incredulous that anyone would be so petty to complain about what we saw as minor issues when the view from our17th.Floor room was one of the great views in the world!!!Looking across the river towards the Bund etc. was worth every cent . We all AGREED we would have no hesitation in returning to this Hotel.

As anyone in REALESTATE will agree. Remember the three P,s POSITON, POSITION,POSITION!!!!

We stayed at the Panorama during National Day Holidays and were amazed at the spectacular views, scrumptious smorgasboard breakfast and clean room. There were marks in the bathroom but it was clean. Sheets immaculate. No hint of any crawlies. The location was RIGHT in the heart of the city. Walk out the door and you are on The Bund. OK the staff could not speak English very well, but it was better than my Chinese !! I would certainly be staying there next time I am in Shanghai.
